You can apply for residency if:

• You own real estate in Morocco and can prove sufficient income to support yourself;
• You are married to a Moroccan;
• You have created a business or found a job in Morocco to support yourself.

    In all other cases, you can only apply for a temporary visa for 90 days.

    The first application for a residence permit (also called Certificat d'Immatriculation) is for one year and can be renewed for one year or five to ten years. This national identity card for foreigners allows you to legally reside in Morocco.

    To obtain or renew card registration by a foreigner wishing to reside in Morocco, foreigners must submit an application attached to the following documents:

• A copy of the pages of the passport confirming identity.
• Stamp of entry into the Kingdom of Morocco.
• Entry visa for foreigners (those subject to this measure).
• The completed application for registration is printed in two copies.
• A recent photo.
• A rental agreement or other document confirming actual permanent residence in Morocco.
• A copy of the document in the absence of criminal records.
• Medical reference.
• A certificate from a bank confirming sufficient financial resources for the period of residence in the Kingdom of Morocco.
• A document showing the type of activity the foreigner intends to perform (if required).

    The residency application process will depend on the type of residency you require. There are eight categories:

• A foreign citizen marrying a man who is a citizen of Morocco

    Residence permit upon retirement

    When you apply for a residence permit, you will need to choose one of eight reasons why you are applying. One such reason is retirement. Once you receive a resident card, the same rules apply regarding the duration of the confirmation and the possibility of opening a bank account in Morocco. Your first residence card will be valid for one year, and with an additional renewal, you can get a card valid for up to 10 years.

    Permanent residence in Morocco

    After you have renewed your residence permit for the third time and received a permit for 10 years, you become a permanent resident of Morocco. The first permit will be valid for one year, the second for five years, the third for 10 years.

    Residence permit in Morocco when buying real estate

    A foreigner who owns real estate in Morocco can apply for a temporary residence permit, but owning real estate in Morocco is not a reason to acquire a permanent residence permit and citizenship.

    Investment visa in Morocco

    The following documents must be submitted for your application:

• Completed application form for an entry visa to the Kingdom of Morocco;
• Two color photographs on a white background (4x3 cm), on which the face is visible;
• Identity card or residence permit or any document with an address;
• Validity of the passport: the validity of the passport or travel document must exceed the duration of the stay;
• A photocopy of the passport (pages indicating the person and the validity period);
• Option 1: Recommendation of the Office of Foreign Investments or a professional federation;
• Option 2: Recommendation of the relevant supervisory authority or regional investment centers (C.R.I);
