All foreign nationals who plan to work in Uganda should contact the Office of citizenship and immigration control under the Ugandan Ministry of the interior  / to obtain the appropriate work permit.

There are the following classes of permissions: 

CLASS A (government and diplomatic service) - for applicants for service in the Government of Uganda or diplomats accredited in Uganda.

CLASS A2 (Civil Service under contract) – for candidates for civil service under contract, in particular for persons planning to work in state higher educational institutions.

CLASS B (investment in agriculture) – for candidates who intend to invest in agriculture and animal husbandry.

CLASS C (mining) - for candidates who intend to invest in mining in Uganda.

CLASS D (business and trade) – for candidates who intend to do business or trade in Uganda.

CLASS E (manufacturers) – for candidates who intend to participate in the production business.

CLASS F (professionals) - for candidates who are professional workers and intend to practice these professions in Uganda.

CLASS G1 (volunteers, NGO workers, missionaries).

CLASS G2 (employees) - for candidates who intend to work as employees, regardless of their qualifications. 

Uganda Entry Permit (e-Visa)

A permit to enter Uganda allows you to live and work in Uganda.

Required documents for obtaining a permit to enter Uganda

1. Application form-a correctly completed application form

2. Photos

One photo with the size of the passport on a white background

3. Passport and a copy of the main page

The passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of departure

4. A copy of your national identity card and residence permit/visa (if your country of residence and citizenship are different)

5. Confirmation of financial capabilities (bank statement, credit card statement)

6. Travel itinerary

- Copy of the ticket reservation

- Copy of the hotel reservation

7. Accompanying documents for each type of entry permit

A2 Government Contractors

- Cover letter from the organization

- Contract (copy)

B Investment in agriculture

- Cover letter from the company

- Ownership of the land plot (copy)

- Letter of recommendation from the local council

- Bank statement for the last 3 months

- A certificate of non-criminal record must be from Interpol or the country of origin

- Immigration status

- The applicant's cover letter

E Manufacturing

- Bank statements for the last 3 months

- Immigration status

- A certificate of non-criminal record must be from Interpol or the country of origin

- Certificate of payment of income tax

- Ugandan Investment Authority license

A Diplomatic service

- Cover letter from the embassy

- Letter issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

- Note verbal

- A copy of the diplomatic note

D Business and Trade

- Trade license (copy)

- A certificate of non-criminal record must be from Interpol or the country of origin

- Bank statements for the last 3 months

- Certificate of payment of income tax

G1 Missionaries and Volunteer NGO Workers

- The letter of recommendation must be issued by the NGO Bureau

- A certificate of non-criminal record must be from Interpol or the country of origin

- The letter of appointment to the position must be from the organization

- Cover letter (from the organization)

- Certified copy of the qualification document

C Mining

- A mining license (copy) must be issued in Uganda

- A copy of the payment receipt

- Letter from the Ugandan Ministry of energy, minerals and Natural Resources

- A certificate of non-criminal record must be from Interpol or the country of origin

G2 Expatriate employees

- Certified copy of the qualification document

- Cover letter (from the organization)

- The appointment letter must be from the organization

- A certificate of non-criminal record must be from Interpol or the country of origin

- Certificate of payment of income tax

A Official service

- Cover letter from the agency

- Confirmation of the official status

F Professionals

- Cover letter (from the organization)

- A certificate of non-criminal record must be from Interpol or the country of origin

- Certificate of registration in a professional structure in Uganda

9. Confirmation of your current professional status (if any)

For example, an employment contract, a certificate from the place of work, an extract from the commercial and commercial register, a certificate of school attendance, or a certificate of pension.
