Prerequisites and prospects for changes in the visa policy of Egypt

The field of tourism in Egypt has been severely affected by the Covid-19 epidemic and the war in Ukraine. The number of Russian tourists in Egypt in 2022 fell by 40%, and Ukrainian tourists by 80%.

In 2022, 11.7 million tourists arrived in Egypt. The number of travelers from the USA, Great Britain, Saudi Arabia, Germany, France, Italy and Spain increased. The number of Italian tourists increased by 250%. Egypt hopes that the number of tourists from China will increase significantly in the coming years. In 2019, only about 220,000 Chinese tourists visited Egypt out of 150 million Chinese travelers worldwide. According to forecasts, the total number of vacationers will increase by 28% in 2023.

The country's government plans that, thanks to changes in the visa policy, the country will be visited by 30 million tourists a year by 2028.

Also, from September, EgyptAir will operate direct flights from Cairo to Brazil, to Sao Paulo.

What to see in Egypt?

The country is home to 2,000 archaeological sites and six UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including the Pyramids of Giza, the Valley of the Kings in Luxor, and the Temples of Aswan.

Over the past four years, twenty museums have opened in the country. The Greco-Roman Museum in Alexandria is scheduled to launch in a few weeks.
