What is the digital migration card “iKat” in Haiti?
The “iKat” system allows travelers to fill out an online questionnaire 72 hours before the trip. Once completed, a PDF with a QR code is generated, which must be presented at the checkpoint. Thus, “iKat” speeds up the processing of documents and facilitates the monitoring of migration flows.
The system is valid for all tourists, including citizens of Cameroon, Nigeria and Algeria.
The project was implemented with the participation of the Haitian Institute of Statistics and Informatics (IHSI) and the Haitian Immigration and Emigration Office (DIE). This allows for centralized processing of traveler data, ensuring security and creating a statistical base for analytics of migration movements.
