Since Roman times, Serbia's springs have been used to treat a variety of illnesses and diseases and to heal the human body.

The most famous resorts in the country

There are several first-class spas in Serbia. First of all, there is the Vrnjačka Banja with its mineral healing waters, the famous mountain climatic resort Zlatibor, the spa-scientific centre Banja Koviljača and others. Here, mineral waters, and clean air enriched with oxygen are used for the treatment of the respiratory and nervous systems, neuroses, hypertension, thyroid diseases, musculoskeletal system, etc. Once you have chosen the right centre, you need to collect all the necessary documents for your trip to Serbia.

What documents will be necessary to go to Serbia for treatment?

Citizens of some countries, e.g. Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Georgia, and Belarus, do not need a visa to travel to Serbia. In this case, you can stay in the country for 30/90 days (depending on the country). Foreign passport holders with a residence permit from the European Union countries, the Schengen Area or the USA can stay in the country for 90 days.

Only a foreign passport is required for entry. In addition, you must register at any police station within 24 hours of crossing the border.

If you want to stay in Serbia for a longer period or if you are a citizen of a country with which no visa-free border crossing agreement has been signed, you must obtain a visa. This can be done at the Serbian consulate in your country. There are 2 types of visa in Serbia: long-term and short-term (types D and C respectively). The short-term one grants a stay in the country of up to 90 days for tourist, business and other trips. A long-term visa entitles you to stay in the Republic of Serbia for a period of 90 to 180 days. Typically, a C visa is issued for recovery and medical treatment.

For this you will need the following package of documents:

1. Foreign passport valid for at least 90 days from the date of issue of the visa;

2. Confirmation of payment for the tour issued by the administration of the resort you plan to visit;

3. Ticket or round-trip itinerary (if travelling by car). In the latter case, insurance and a copy of your driving licence must also be provided;

4. Bank statement confirming sufficient funds for your stay in the Republic of Serbia;

5. Proof of payment of the visa fee;

6. Medical insurance (can be arranged on our website).
