Citizens of EU member states and countries, that had signed the Schengen Agreement, do not need a visa to enter the Republic of North Macedonia (and they have the right to enter the Republic of North Macedonia with a valid national identification document).
Citizens of third countries with temporary residence in an EU member state or a country that has signed the Schengen Agreement may stay no more than 15 (fifteen) days at each entry into the territory of the Republic of North Macedonia, if the total duration of stay does not exceed 90 days within 180 days.
Citizens of third countries who permanently reside in an EU member state or in a country that has signed the Schengen Agreement may stay no more than 15 (fifteen) days at each entry into the territory of the Republic of North Macedonia, if the total duration of stay does not exceed 90 days during a 180-day period.
Citizens of third countries with a multiple-entry Schengen visa (type C), valid for at least 5 (five) days after the intended stay in the Republic of North Macedonia, may stay for no more than 15 (fifteen) days at each entry into the territory of the Republic North Macedonia, if the total length of stay does not exceed 90 days in a 180-day period.
In addition, the Republic of North Macedonia has canceled short-term visas (type C) for foreign nationals who are holders of valid passports from third countries and are simultaneously holders of valid British, American and Canadian visas. The duration of their stay in the Republic of North Macedonia cannot exceed 15 days. This decision is temporary and is valid from January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2022.

Types of visas
Types of entry visas:
Short-term and transit visa (C visa)
Long-term visa (D visa)
A short-term and transit visa ("C" visa) for the Republic of North Macedonia allows you to stay in the country for up to 90 days, and in the case of transit – up to 5 days.
Necessary documents:
Travel document valid for at least 3 months after the period of expected stay in Macedonia
Travel insurance documents (policy issued by the legal insurance entity of the country of residence)
Notarized guarantee letter, i.e. letter of invitation from a Macedonian individual/legal entity
Confirmation of sufficient resources for the time of stay in Macedonia (credit card/bank statement)
Color photo (size 3.5x4.5 cm)
Confirmation of payment of fees for visa application processing
Carefully and legibly filled out visa application form
Fee according to LAF - Tariff No. 135 for short-term and transit visa - 60 EUR or 35 EUR for children aged 6-12 years.
To obtain a long-term visa to the Republic of North Macedonia, the applicant must submit documents corresponding to the type of visa after receiving the decision of the Ministry of Internal Affairs on granting temporary residence.
Temporary residence is granted to a foreigner who intends to stay in the Republic of Macedonia for the following reasons:
Work
Participation in international student exchange programs
Specialization, professional training and internship
Volunteering
Scientific research activity
Medical treatment
Residency in nursing homes
Family reunification
Humanitarian reasons
The procedure of visa issuance for Macedonia
A foreigner must obtain his visa before entering the Republic of North Macedonia and may stay in the Republic of North Macedonia only for the purpose for which the visa was issued.
A foreigner applies for a visa to the diplomatic and consular representation of the Republic of North Macedonia no later than six months and no less than 15 days before the start of the intended trip. The visa application is submitted in person. As an exception, the visa application may be submitted by another natural or legal person authorized to act as the applicant's proxy when the foreigner is
Required documents
The applicant attaches the following documents to the visa application:
Valid travel document (the validity period of the travel document must exceed the validity of the visa by at least three months), the travel document must be issued within the last 10 years and contain at least two blank pages for the visa
Travel medical insurance with 35 000 Euros coverage
Confirmation of payment of fees
Documents confirming: the purpose of visiting Macedonia, availability of accommodation, means of subsistence, intention to return to the country of origin or intention to go to a third country.

Additional documents
When entering Macedonia, a foreigner must have:
Passport or other valid travel document. The validity of the travel document must exceed the validity of the visa by at least three months. Also, the travel document must have been issued within the last 10 years and contain at least two blank pages for the visa;
A valid visa or other valid document that gives the right to enter and stay in this territory, if they are needed;
Confirmation of availability of funds. The amount depends on the duration of your stay in the country at the rate of 40 dollars per day
Medical Insurance. The minimum amount for insurance in Macedonia is 35 000 euros.
Confirmation of the purpose of stay in Macedonia (route letter, accommodation/hotel reservation, etc.)
In the case of transit through Macedonia to another state — a permit to enter another state or a permit to stay in another state.
If you do not enjoy visa-free entry to Macedonia, you may need a transit visa (type C).

Foreigners who do not enjoy visa-free entry must obtain a transit visa (Visa C). This visa allows you to stay in the country for up to 5 days in transit.

To import pets into Macedonia, all pets must have:
Microchip for pets. Your pet must be chipped with a 15-digit unencrypted microchip that complies with the ISO 11784/11785 standard.
Vaccinations. Your dog or cat must have a valid rabies vaccination after chipping.
Health certificate. A licensed veterinarian must complete an EU medical certificate for North Macedonia 10 days prior to travel.

If your driver's license is not written in English, you must provide an English translation of your driver's license. Therefore, you need an international driving license to drive in North Macedonia.
Can I drive a car with an American license in Macedonia?
You can drive in Macedonia with a US license for a year. You do not need to have an international driver's license with a US license
