To live and work in Macedonia, foreign workers will need to obtain a D visa, a residence permit, and a work permit.
Before traveling to Macedonia, the employee will need to provide the following documents to obtain a type D visa:
Sample application for temporary residence
Valid passport
One passport size photo
Evidence of the applicant's medical insurance
Copy of the applicant's application for a work permit, which must be provided by the employer.
To obtain a temporary residence permit, employees will need to provide additional documents upon arrival in Macedonia:
Temporary residence permit from the Ministry of Internal Affairs
Evidence of residence in Macedonia
Original, certified copy of the employee's application for a work permit
Valid passport and one passport photo
Certificate of criminal record
Confirmation of travel insurance

Employment permits in Macedonia are issued by the Employment Agency.
The process of submitting an application and issuing a visa and residence permit
The main stages of the application process are as follows:
The employer initiates an application for a work permit on behalf of a foreign employee
The employer sends the original work permit application to the employee
The employee submits an application for employment together with other documents to the nearest Macedonian consulate.
Upon approval, the employee receives a long-term D visa.
The employee goes to Macedonia
Within five days after arrival, the employee completes the process of issuing a residence permit by submitting the documents listed earlier to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Within 25 days from the date of submission of the application, the Ministry issues a national identity card of temporary residence to the employee.

Additionally
Macedonia is a current candidate to join the European Union (EU), but negotiations are not currently underway. Currently, citizens of EU member states must follow the same procedure as other foreign citizens to enter Macedonia for the purpose of employment.
