Another great opportunity for international students to obtain higher education in Luxembourg is the Erasmus program. It is funded by the European Union. According to the program, applicants for higher education can spend from 3 to 12 months in another European university. To do this, you need to confirm your education at a university in your home country.

Obtaining a student visa for studying at the University of Luxembourg

Luxembourg is a part of the Schengen area. Therefore, visa conditions here are the same as in the other 26 member states. Citizens of the EU, as well as Switzerland and the UK, can stay in Luxembourg simply by having a passport or other identity document. It is necessary to register with local authorities within 90 days.

Citizens of other countries must enter the Schengen area through the country that issued your visa. Upon arrival, you must register with the commune of your place of residence and undergo a medical examination.

In order to be eligible to study at a university in Luxembourg, you must apply for a temporary residence permit. After receiving approval, a person must apply for a student visa. To do this, you need to provide a letter of acceptance from the university to confirm your enrollment.

After obtaining a student visa, a person can move to Luxembourg. A prerequisite is to submit a declaration of arrival in the commune administration at the place of residence. It is also necessary to submit a request for a residence permit to the Immigration Department of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs within.

The student visa is valid for 12 months with the possibility of further extension. In addition to studying, this type of visa also allows official employment for no more than 15 hours per week.
