The Embassy of Portugal in Cape Verde announced that from July 12, it will be possible to sign up for certain categories of visas every day. This change will affect work visas, national permits for temporary and permanent residence, as well as visas for family reunification. This step was taken to improve the quality of the services provided and increase the number of visitors.
The update does not only apply to entries to the Joint Visa Center for short-term visas.

Are there many migrants in Portugal?
The number of foreigners in Portugal is constantly increasing, and according to the Portuguese Agency for Integration, Migration and Asylum (AIMA), more than one million permanent migrants were registered in the country in 2023, a 130 percent increase from the previous year. In general, this indicator has become the highest in history. The number of foreigners in Portugal has almost doubled in just the last five years. Due to the large number of arrivals, Portugal currently has the highest number of applications for registration (around 40,000 applications).
Portugal is tightening visa requirements to reduce the number of expats
