Warmth and light during blackouts: how the social initiative of hotels from UHRA and Visit Ukraine works for Kyiv
During power outages, Kyiv residents can get temporary housing with heat, electricity, and internet at a 20% discount. Find out how the UHRA and Visit Ukraine social initiative works, as well as the terms and details of the program
Power outages have become a serious challenge for Kyiv residents. The lack of electricity, heating, water, and stable internet complicates work, study, and everyday life. In response to these circumstances, the Ukrainian Hotel Association (UHRA) together with the Visit Ukraine platform launched a social initiative that allows Kyiv residents to get temporary housing in comfortable conditions at a special price.
Detailed conditions, how to get a discount, and who can join are described in this article.
What is the essence of the “Heat and Recovery for Kyiv Residents” initiative
“Heat and Recovery for Kyiv Residents” is not a classic discount campaign or a marketing project. The initiative was created as a form of business solidarity with the capital’s residents during periods of mass blackouts.
Within the framework of the program, participating hotels provide the opportunity for temporary accommodation in spaces where there is guaranteed:
- Electricity;
- Heating and hot water;
- Stable internet;
- Safe conditions for rest or remote work.
The program is activated exclusively during power outages and has no commercial purpose.
What conditions are available to Kyiv residents?
Kyiv residents are provided with a social discount of -20% for accommodation in hotels that have joined the initiative. It makes short-term stays in comfortable conditions more affordable during the period when the home infrastructure is not working.
Booking is made through the Visit Ukraine platform, where the discount is applied automatically, using a special promo code. Additional certificates or complex confirmations are not required - just select a participating hotel and the appropriate dates.
It is worth considering that the conditions may differ slightly depending on the specific hotel: available room categories or dates of stay are determined individually.
Which hotels participate in the program?
Hotels in Kyiv and other cities of Ukraine have already joined the social initiative, ready to provide residents of the capital with temporary shelter in comfortable and safe conditions, including:
- Optima Collection Podil Plaza
- Raziotel Kyiv (Yamska St.)
- Raziotel Kyiv (Boryspilska St.)
- VitaPark Borysfen
- Senator
- Amarant 3★ / 4★
The list of participants is not fixed and is constantly updated. Current options are available directly on Visit Ukraine during booking.
How does the Visit Ukraine discount work?
The participation mechanism is as simple as possible. Participating hotels are marked on the platform, and the final cost of accommodation is immediately displayed taking into account the social discount.
The booking process is standard:
Step 1 - Select a hotel and dates;
Step 2 - Select a room;
Step 3 - Enter contact details;
Step 4 - Confirm booking.
No additional requests to the hotel administration are required - everything is coordinated through Visit Ukraine.
Why should hotels join the initiative?
For the hotel business, participation in the program is primarily a social responsibility and real help to the city during the crisis. At the same time, hotels receive organizational support and centralized communication through Visit Ukraine, without the need to launch separate advertising campaigns.
The flexible format of participation allows you to independently determine available dates and room stock, while maintaining a single social standard of the program.
How can hotels join the program?
The initiative is open to hotels from all over Ukraine. To join, just fill out the registration form and agree on the details with the Visit Ukraine team. After that, the accommodation facility is added to the list of participants and becomes available for booking within the program.
The social initiative “Heat and Recovery for Kyivans” demonstrates how business and society can act together in difficult conditions. Access to warmth, light and safe space during blackouts is not a luxury, but a basic need, and it is such projects that form real support for the city. Visit Ukraine acts as a key coordinator in this process, uniting hotels and people who need help here and now.
