How was the ranking of Ireland’s tourist attractions compiled?

The study was conducted by Baldwin Digital, an Irish digital marketing agency based in Cork. Analysts examined 50 tourist destinations from TripAdvisor’s “Things to Do in Ireland” list.

For each location, they calculated the percentage of five-star reviews out of the total number of ratings on the platform. The attractions were then ranked based on this metric—the top spots in the ranking went to those attractions that received the highest percentage of top ratings from visitors.

An unexpected leader among Ireland’s attractions

The country’s most popular landmarks—the Guinness Storehouse in Dublin and Blarney Castle & Gardens in County Cork—didn’t even make it into the top 20. Blarney Castle came in at 28th place, while the famous Guinness Storehouse ranked only 44th.

First place went to the Dublin-based Roe & Co. distillery, which specializes in producing Irish whiskey. 97.35% of reviews for this attraction received the highest five-star rating.

Second place went to the award-winning 14 Henrietta Street museum, which introduces visitors to Dublin’s 300-year history. The percentage of five-star ratings here reaches 94.77%. Rounding out the top three is the Irish Rock and Roll Museum with a rating of 92.12%—out of more than 8,000 reviews on TripAdvisor, the majority are top ratings.

Natural Attractions and Trails Top the Rankings

Natural attractions also feature near the top of the list. Slive Ligh on the Atlantic coast of County Donegal took 4th place with a rating of 87.16%.

Visitors can see some of Europe’s highest sea cliffs and enjoy panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean, the Sligo Mountains, and Donegal Bay.

The “Wild Atlantic Way” tourist route took fifth place, with 86.51% five-star reviews. This coastal road is considered one of the longest designated coastal routes in the world and a popular way to experience the country’s natural beauty.

The nature section of the ranking is rounded out by Killarney National Park in County Kerry (9th place) and Dunlo Gorge in the same county (14th place).
