The private rail carrier European Sleeper will soon launch a new direct overnight train connecting popular tourist destinations in five European countries. The route will stretch from Brussels to Venice, offering convenient connections for winter sports and city travel.
The overnight train will run through Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, and Italy, making intercontinental travel even more accessible and attractive to tourists. This initiative is aimed at meeting the growing demand for comfortable and convenient overnight travel in Europe.
In our previous article, we talked about the strikes of transport workers in Europe, which are scheduled for August-September 2024.
Details of the launch of the new Brussels-Venice flight from European Sleeper
According to the company's press service, the first flight of the new night train will start from Brussels on February 5, 2025. In February and March, trains will run approximately twice a week to provide convenient travel during school holidays and the peak of the winter sports season. In addition, this route will be a great alternative for those planning to visit the famous Carnival in Venice.
The route, which is currently planned as a seasonal one, will pass through several countries. Departing from Brussels, the train will make stops in the cities of the Netherlands (Antwerp, Rotterdam, Utrecht), Germany (Cologne, Munich), Austria (Innsbruck) and Italy (Verona, Venice). Passengers will be able to enjoy the picturesque landscapes of the Bavarian and Austrian Alps and reach the Adriatic Sea shores.
Ticket prices for this winter route will be announced shortly, and booking will be available from September 1. The overnight train from Brussels to Venice will depart at 17:00 and arrive in Venice at 14:00 the next day. In the opposite direction, the train will depart from Venice at 15:00 and arrive in Brussels at 23:00.

New European Sleeper routes
Since May 2023, European Sleeper has launched its first night train, which runs from Brussels and Amsterdam to Berlin and Prague three times a week. This new route to Venice significantly expands European Sleeper's network, offering even more comfortable and efficient options for overnight travel. In addition, the company is planning to launch a daily night flight between Amsterdam and Barcelona, having received support from the European Commission.
In March 2023, European Sleeper opened a new route from Brussels to Berlin, and ten months later added a route to Prague. These initiatives are part of a revival trend of night trains across Europe. However, the industry faces several challenges.
Rival startup Midnight Trains, which planned to launch “hotel trains” across Europe by 2025, was forced to abandon its ambitious plans in June, calling it “the death of a dream.”
We remind you! Budget tickets were introduced this summer in many countries. The new travel cards are available to a wide range of passengers. Read more about which countries and for whom budget tickets have become available.
