Kenya has launched the Digital Nomad Work Permit program for foreign remote workers. This decision was made as part of Kenya's efforts to further develop the country's economy. We have collected everything that is currently known about the new visa in Kenya in this article.

Requirements for foreigners to obtain a Digital Nomad Visa in Kenya

In order to issue a digital nomad visa in Kenya, the applicant will need to provide:

1. Valid passport.

2. Confirmation of remote work outside Kenya.

3. Confirmation of residence in Kenya.

4. Certificate of no criminal record.

The main requirement is a minimum annual income of USD 55,000 (EUR 50,000).

It is currently unknown how long the work permit will be valid, how much it will cost, and when it will become available.

Why has Kenya decided to introduce a digital nomad visa?

At the Magical Kenya Travel Expo 2024 in Nairobi on Wednesday, October 2, President William Ruto announced the introduction of the new Digital Nomad work permit in Kenya, as well as the approval of a new electronic travel authorization system.

The new visa is designed to accommodate remote workers, allowing them to live and work in Kenya while enjoying the country's natural beauty in their free time.

The main objective of the country's leadership is to sustain the tourism industry, as tourism is crucial to the Kenyan economy as it supports employment, the growth of the hospitality industry and the development of infrastructure.

What to see in Kenya?

Kenya is a country in East Africa that is known for its numerous national parks filled with wildlife, mysterious landscapes and beautiful white sand beaches that stretch along the coast of the Indian Ocean.

- Amboseli National Park

The world's most famous herd of elephants lives here. The park is located at the foot of the Kilimanjaro volcano, which will be a great backdrop for unforgettable wildlife experiences. Amboseli is known for its rich biodiversity which includes: over 600 species of birds, lions, cheetahs, giraffes, elephants, leopards and many other animals.

- Nairobi National Park

Just a few steps from the capital of Kenya is the Nairobi National Park, an oasis of wildlife in East Africa. The park allows tourists to escape the urban jungle and experience a variety of wildlife, including lions, leopards and rhinos. It is also home to the Nairobi Animal Shelter, which houses orphaned and injured animals.

- Gate of Hell National Park

Located in the Great Rift Valley, the park offers a unique opportunity to explore its stunning landscapes and observe wildlife up close while cycling or hiking.

In addition to its incredible wildlife, Hell's Gate is also known for its geological wonders, including two extinct volcanoes, the red rocks of Hell's Gate Gorge, and the Olkaria Geothermal Station.

- Beaches of Kenya

After exploring the wonders of Kenya's wildlife in the national parks of northern Kenya, it's time to relax and soak up the sun on the beautiful beaches of southern Kenya.

From the crystal clear waters of Diani Beach to the rich history of Lamu Island and the marine life of Watamu Beach, Kenya's coastline offers the perfect combination of relaxation and adventure.

Head to the Indian Ocean and discover a beach paradise or explore the breathtaking beauty of Lake Victoria.

- Nairobi

There will also be plenty for digital nomads to do in Nairobi: visit the Nairobi Giraffe Centre, shop at the bustling Maasai market, fuel up with Kenyan coffee or dance the night away in the city's vibrant clubs.

Overall, Kenya is a popular destination for international tourists, with the country expected to host around two million international travelers in 2023. By 2027, the country aims to increase this number to five million. Kenya is most often visited by tourists from the USA, Uganda, Tanzania, Great Britain and India.

Kenya is an interesting and fantastic African pearl, life here will give you new impressions and bright moments.

We will remind you! Five countries - Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe - have announced plans to introduce a single African tourist visa. The permit will work according to the Schengen visa principle - tourists will be able to enter these five countries for a short period of time without the need to obtain documents for each of the states.
