The press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan on February 7, 2025 announced the launch of three new categories of visas for qualified professionals, entrepreneurs and remote workers who are interested in long-term opportunities for career growth or business expansion in the country: Neo Nomad Visa (B12-1), Digital Nomad Visa (B9-1) and Visa for Permanent Residence (B9). Neo Nomad Visa in Kazakhstan (B12-1)

Neo Nomad Visa is a visa intended for foreign citizens who work remotely and combine work with travel. The main requirement is to have an income of at least $ 3,000 per month outside Kazakhstan.

The permit is multiple, valid for up to 1 year with the possibility of extension for another 1 year.

The advantage is the possibility of moving with family members, who can receive a visa for the same period as the main applicant, although their work rights are limited.

- Procedure for obtaining a Neo Nomad Visa in Kazakhstan

In order to obtain a visa, the applicant must prepare the following package of documents:

1. Bank statement for the last six months, confirming a stable monthly income of at least 3,000 US dollars.

2. Tax declaration issued by the competent authority of the applicant's country of citizenship.

3. Certificate of presence/absence of a criminal record issued by the authorized authority of the applicant's country of citizenship or permanent residence.

4. Medical insurance valid for the entire period of validity of the visa.

The application must be submitted to the diplomatic mission of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The processing time is 5 working days from the date of submission of documents.

Important! Neo Nomad Visa does not give the right to employment in Kazakhstan.

Digital Nomad Visa in Kazakhstan (B9-1)

The Digital Nomad Visa (B9-1) is intended for IT professionals moving to Kazakhstan for permanent residence. The visa allows you to integrate into the Kazakhstani work environment and contribute to the country's economic development.

The main requirement is that candidates must receive a petition from Astana Hub or an authorized IT sector body.

Through the visa and migration portal, the applicant receives a single-entry electronic visa for a period of up to one year. A multiple-entry paper visa can be obtained from the Ministry of Internal Affairs on the basis of a single-entry electronic visa B9-1.

- Procedure for obtaining a Digital Nomad Visa in Kazakhstan

Based on the available information, the requirements for a package of documents for obtaining a freelance residence permit under the Digital Nomad program:

1. Visa application form.

2. A valid passport with at least 6 months validity on the date of travel and at least 2 blank pages.

3. Proof of residence – rental or purchase agreement.

4. International medical insurance policy.

5. Bank statement from the applicant’s home country, clearly indicating the applicant’s name as the account holder, account balances and date of statement.

Important! The processing time and additional conditions for the applicant have not yet been announced. It is expected that the application will be processed within 7 days.

Visa for Permanent Residence (B9)
