Visa on arrival to the UAE for Indian citizens - what is this permit?

Indian citizens who meet a certain number of requirements are eligible to obtain a UAE visa on arrival. This is a special document that allows them to enter the country without first obtaining a visa. This program simplifies entry for visitors and professionals, making travel more convenient.

Previously, the right to obtain a visa on arrival was available to Indian citizens who had a valid visa, residence permit or green card from the United States of America, the United Kingdom or the European Union.

What other categories of Indian citizens have been granted the right to a UAE visa on arrival?

From February 13, 2025, Indian citizens holding regular passports and valid visas, residence permits or green cards from the following new countries will also be eligible for visa on arrival at all UAE ports of entry:

- Singapore

- Japan

- South Korea

- Australia

- New Zealand

- Canada

The expansion of the country list allows a wider range of Indian tourists and professionals to enter the US.

What will change for travelers from India to the UAE?

Under the new rules, eligible travelers will no longer need to apply for a visa to visit the UAE in advance. Instead, they can obtain a visa at the point of entry, eliminating the need for additional documents or waiting times.

The updated rules will not only make travel easier for individuals, but also more convenient for families of UAE residents, thus facilitating greater mobility and cultural exchange between the two nations.

Where can Indian citizens obtain a UAE visa on arrival?

Indian citizens can obtain a visa on arrival at all points of entry in the UAE, including major airports in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, etc.

New 60-Day UAE Visa for Indian Citizens

In addition to the enhanced requirements regarding the country that issued the visa to an Indian citizen, the UAE authorities have introduced a 60-day visa for Indian citizens who meet the necessary criteria.

For Dh250, tourists and business travelers can enjoy extended stays in the country with more flexibility.

What should other Indian nationals do?

For Indian nationals who do not have valid residence permits or tourist visas from the US, UK, EU or any of the new countries on the list, there are still 11 alternative visa options available to enter the UAE.

The new approach to visa policy reflects the UAE’s ongoing efforts to improve global connectivity and meet the diverse needs of international travelers.
