Scientists have found that the best day to buy tickets is Sunday. By purchasing tickets on this day, you can save up to 15% on international flights. Expedia's annual report, based on the analysis of billions of airline ticket sales data, confirms these findings.

Key findings of the Expedia study

According to the Expedia Air Travel Hacks Report, for optimal savings and availability, international flights should be booked about 60 days, but no more than 4 months before travel. Last year, the optimal period was about six months. 

Sunday remains the cheapest day of the week to book, while Friday is the most expensive day. To save up to 16%, it is recommended to plan your departure on Thursday and avoid traveling on Sunday, which is considered the most expensive day to start your trip. 

Departing before 15:00 minimizes the risk of delays and cancellations, which are more common after that time. Domestic flights should be booked 28 days before departure. This allows you to save up to 24% compared to those who book tickets at the last minute.
