1. Annual limits on subclass 462 visas
For the visa year 1 July 2024 to 30 June 2025, Australia has set annual limits on subclass 462 visas for certain countries. Once the quota is reached, new applications will not be accepted until 1 July 2025.
2. Second and third working holiday visas
Applicants can extend their stay by applying for a second or third working holiday visa. To qualify:
- To obtain a second visa, you must complete 3 months of specified work (e.g. in agriculture, construction, tourism or hospitality in Australia).
- To obtain a third visa, you must complete 6 months of specified work.
3. Risk of visa cancellation

Argentina (3400 permits), Chile (3400 permits), Czech Republic (500 permits), Greece (500 permits), Hungary (500 permits), Indonesia (4796 permits), Israel (2500 permits), Luxembourg (100 permits), Papua New Guinea (100 permits), Peru (1500 permits), Poland (1500 permits), San Marino (100 permits), Singapore (2500 permits), Slovak Republic (1000 permits), Slovenia (200 permits), Turkey (100 permits).
- Ballot Stage
Countries currently in “Ballot Stage” with quotas:
China (5000 permits), India (1000 permits), Vietnam (1500 permits).
- Applications “Closed”
Countries for which Australian WHM applications for 2025 have closed:
Brazil (500 permits), Ecuador (100 permits), Mongolia (100 permits), Portugal (500 permits), Spain (3400 permits), Switzerland (200 permits), Thailand (2000 permits), Uruguay (200 permits).

What jobs can foreigners work in with an Australia Working Holiday Visa?
