There are three options for entering Jamaica depending on citizenship: visa-free, visa on arrival, and visa. If you do not need a visa to enter, your total stay in the country should not exceed 30 or 90 days within 180 days. This applies if you are traveling as a tourist, visiting family or friends, attending business meetings, cultural or sporting events.

Staying longer is possible, but you must apply for an extension.

Travel insurance "Jamaica Cares"

Jamaica has recently discontinued the Jamaica Cares program, which previously required travel insurance for all visitors to the country. Despite the removal of this requirement, we still strongly recommend that travelers consider purchasing travel insurance for Jamaica.

There are two categories of visas to Jamaica:

• Short-term visa: issued to persons whose purpose of visit is tourism, transit, visiting relatives and friends, business visit or other purposes not related to making a profit in Jamaica. Short-term visa is issued for a period not exceeding 90 days;
• Long-term visa: is issued to persons whose purpose of visit is study, entrepreneurship (legal activities), work, family reunification, medical treatment or marriage.

If you do not have an entry visa, you can apply for one through the network of Jamaican consular offices. If a person holds a passport of a country whose nationals require a visa to enter Jamaica, they must apply for a visa at the Jamaican consular post in their country of residence or at the nearest consular post.

What additional documents do I need to have to enter Jamaica?

• Confirmation of travel arrangements: availability of your visit itinerary (round-trip tickets), return ticket or other proof of intended transportation.
• Travel medical insurance for Jamaica (recommended) - indicates that you are insured in case of medical emergency or repatriation.
• • A document confirming the ability to support yourself and your dependents during your stay.

Citizens eligible for this type of visa can obtain a Jamaican visa in two different ways:

1. Apply for a visa at the Jamaican embassy/consulate

2. Obtaining a visa to Jamaica upon arrival

The decision on admission and duration of stay is made by an immigration officer at the port of entry into Jamaica. This applies regardless of whether a visa is a prerequisite for entry or not. You can obtain a Jamaican visa upon arrival at the borders of Montego Bay, Ocho Rios, Falmouth, Port Antonio and Kingston.

Documents required to obtain a visa to Jamaica upon arrival

1. Passport

• Valid for at least six months after your departure date from Jamaica.
• Signed by the bearer
• Passport not older than 10 years (issued within the last 10 years)
• At least one or two free "visa pages"
• Undamaged photos securely attached to the passport

2. Photo.

• Not older than 6 months.
• Frontal image of the face covering 70-80% (32-26 mm) of the photo.
• Homogeneous and white background.
• Clear facial features and eyes - not covered by hair or glasses.
• Size 35mm x 45mm

3. Travel route

• Airplane tickets (return ticket must be included)
• Confirmation/booking of accommodation (hotel reservation, rental agreement, apartment reservation, etc.)

4. Confirmation of financial sources

• Bank statements, cash, traveler's checks, vouchers, etc.

5. Certificate of vaccination against yellow fever (if available)

*Additional documents may be required at border control.

Documents required to apply for an extension of stay:

• Passport valid for at least 6 months before the expiration date
• Return ticket
• Letter stating the reason for the extension
• Entry visa (if any)
• Evidence of sufficient funds to support themselves during their stay in the country.
