Health insurance requirements for Luxembourg
To travel with your pet to Luxembourg, you must meet the following requirements.
Your pet must be identified using a microchip. The microchip must be implanted before the animal receives a rabies vaccination. If your pet has already been vaccinated before implantation, the vaccination becomes invalid and will need to be repeated.
Pets must be at least 105 days old and vaccinated against rabies. To travel to Luxembourg, you will need to wait 21 days after getting vaccinated (the first day counts as day 0).
You will need to obtain a health certificate from an authorized USDA veterinarian (if you are traveling from the US). The health certificate must contain confirmation of the rabies vaccination. Also, a component of the sanitary certificate is a written statement of the owner or the person accompanying the animals that the animals are not subject to movement for the purpose of selling or transferring these goods.
There must be a document stating that the animal arrived directly or via Luxembourg from a third country specified in the health certificate.
Be sure to contact the embassy to learn more about the required entry points and restricted breeds.
The current rules and additional information can be found on the website.
