Duty-free delivery is available:

- 250 cigarettes, 50 cigars and 20 grams of tobacco;

- whiskey/wine not exceeding 1.15 liters or beer up to 12 bottles;

- fabrics and articles for personal use;

- medicines for personal use up to NPR 10,000;

- food in tin packaging up to 1000 NPR;

- fresh fruits up to 2000 NPR;

- 50 grams of gold and 100 grams of silver jewelry;

- up to 15 reels of film.

Important! When crossing Nepal, you will also need to include in your luggage a wristwatch, a movie or video camera, a tape recorder, a bicycle, a set of fountain pens, a radio and any electronic devices. All of this can be carried only in the amount of one item of each type per person and only after filling out a declaration with an obligation to take the items back.

What is prohibited to import to Nepal:

- Drugs.

- Weapons and military equipment.

What is forbidden to take out of Nepal:

- Nepalese rupee (NPR). The national currency of Nepal is prohibited for export. Therefore, excess local money must be exchanged at one of the exchange offices at Kathmandu Airport upon your return. At the same time, you can exchange no more than 15% of the amount that you exchanged for local currency upon entering the country. Therefore, do not forget to take a receipt when you change money at the entrance. Important! Keep in mind that currency cannot be exchanged at land border crossings at all, and the rest of your local money may simply be confiscated.

- Precious metals and stones.

- Wild animals. Representatives of the local fauna of Nepal are prohibited from leaving the country. The same applies to products made of leather, fur, horns and claws of the local fauna.

- Drugs and raw materials for their manufacture. This category includes a variety of plant materials that can be used to make narcotic drugs.

Foreigners usually have no problems with the export of souvenirs. And if you have a special certificate, you can even import antiques to your homeland, provided that they are not older than one hundred years. But for all sorts of images of gods, including paintings and metal figurines, you will need permission directly from the Department of Archeology of Nepal.

Currency

- It is allowed to import currency no more than 2000 US dollars without declaring it. Currency can be exchanged at the airport of the Nepalese capital or at exchange offices.

- You can take out no more than the amount you brought in.

- However, only 10% of the amount that you exchange for local currency in Nepal will be exchanged for foreign currency at the airport upon departure.
