Planning a trip to Europe should start with obtaining a Schengen visa.
The Schengen zone includes 27 countries, including 22 EU member states, as well as Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, Switzerland and Croatia (from January 1, 2023). This zone is the world's largest zone of free movement, millions of people cross internal borders between states without hindrance every day.
An important feature is that the level of visa refusals differs depending on the country. According to statistics, France, Germany and Spain rejected the largest number of visa applications in 2021.

The level of refusals to issue a Schengen visa in different countries
The ranking of the countries that most often refuse to issue visas to tourists was led by France, out of 652,331 visa applications, authorities rejected 128,672, which is slightly more than 21%. Spain took the second step. Germany closes the top three, the country received 346,284 applications, of which it refused 53,987 tourists. Norway, Denmark and Belgium also refuse tourists quite often.
It is worth noting that the percentage of accepted applications should also be taken into account when choosing a country for processing documents. For example, Sweden received 22,260 applications, of which only 30% were accepted.
Luxembourg turned out to be the most hospitable - the country's authorities rejected the least number of visa applications in 2021 (29 out of 2383), Slovakia (107 out of 3886) and Iceland (279 out of 2735).

What is a Schengen Visitor Visa?
The Schengen Visitor Visa allows visitors to travel freely between Schengen member countries without a passport, identity card or visa. You can stay on the basis of a permit in the Schengen zone for up to 90 days within a 180-day period. The visa processing period is from 15 to 30 days. The application can be submitted a maximum of six months before the planned trip.
The cost of obtaining a Schengen visa for an adult is 80 euros, for children (aged 6 to 11) – 40 euros. Visas are issued free of charge for children under the age of six.
