Closing ceremony: a symbol of strength and dreams
The closing ceremony of the 2026 Paralympics was held under the title “Italian Souvenir”. It combined music, dance and light effects, telling a symbolic story about dreams and perseverance. The central image was the story of a girl, whose role was played by Sofia Tansella, an athlete with spinal muscular atrophy.
During the final speech, the President of the International Paralympic Committee Andrew Parsons noted the strength and endurance of the participants:
“You have shown the world that perfection is universal, and determination knows no borders.”
During the ceremony, the Paralympic flag was handed over to the organizers of the next Winter Games, which will be held in the French Alps in 2030.

Among the possible new disciplines, parabobsleigh and speed skating are being discussed, as well as expanding the participation of athletes with various forms of disabilities.
The Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Paralympic Games will go down in history as a record-breaking event in terms of scale and audience, as well as an event that once again demonstrated the power of human endurance and the desire to win.
The Paralympic Games in Milan and Cortina once again proved that sport is able to unite people from all over the world, despite political disputes and global challenges. Record participation rates, new heroes and bright stories of athletes made these Games one of the most memorable in the history of the Paralympic movement. The next Winter Paralympics will be held in the French Alps in 2030, where athletes will once again compete for medals and the opportunity to inspire the world with their achievements.
Major international events, sports tournaments or active winter travel are always associated with an increased risk of injuries or health problems. That is why health insurance is one of the most important documents for traveling abroad. The policy covers the costs of doctor consultations, treatment, transportation to the hospital and other medical services. This is especially important for tourists traveling to mountain or winter resorts in Europe.
Take out health insurance before your trip and protect yourself from unforeseen expenses!
