In addition to a valid national driving license in Türkiye, you must obtain an international driving license. An international driver's license gives you the right to drive a car. This rule does not apply to a person holding a British driving license in Türkiye. To rent a car, the minimum age of drivers is 21 years (for some types of cars - 23 years or 27).
On January 10, 2023, the Agreement on Mutual Recognition and Exchange of National Driving Licenses between Ukraine and Turkey entered into force. The bilateral agreement applies to driving licenses of all categories of vehicles.
This means that citizens of Ukraine who have moved to Turkey for temporary or permanent residence can exchange their Ukrainian driving license for a Turkish one without passing theoretical and practical exams. The same rule is valid for Turkish citizens in Ukraine.
