Obtaining citizenship in Côte d'Ivoire
Foreign nationals cannot obtain an Ivorian residence permit from an embassy or consulate. They must obtain a long-term visa and then apply for a residence permit upon arrival in Côte d'Ivoire.
To obtain residency, you need to contact the National Office of Civil Status Identification (ONECI) in Côte d'Ivoire.

An approximate list of documents that must be submitted to obtain a Resident Card:
- Copy of passport
- A copy of the visa and stamp for entry into Côte d'Ivoire
- Certificate of residence, issued less than 6 months ago
- Employment certificate (for those working in Côte d'Ivoire)
- Certificate of criminal record
- Payment receipt
- Proof of education, or school or student income for the current year (for pupils and students).

Also through the website of the National Office of Civil Status Identification (ONECI) you can obtain a National Identity Card ( CNI ) with which you can obtain Ivorian citizenship.
The national identity card is valid for 10 years, after which it will need to be renewed.
The procedure for receiving is as follows:

Pay online with Orange Money, Moov Money, MTN Mobile Money, Visa, Mastercard, Yup, EcobankPay.
2. Print the receipt
Print the receipt and a copy will be sent to your email inbox.
3. Come to one of the registration centers to complete the process

4. Receive your CNI
You will be sent an SMS if your national identity card is available for collection.
Is dual citizenship allowed in Côte d'Ivoire?
Dual citizenship is prohibited in Côte d'Ivoire, with automatic citizenship granted to married women or naturalized persons.

Obtaining citizenship in Côte d'Ivoire is possible:
- By origin
- Through naturalization ( having lived in the country for at least five years)
- Through adoption
- Through marriage with a citizen of the Ivory Coast.
