Travel to Somalia for Ukraine citizenship

On September 1, 2025, Somalia introduced mandatory electronic authorization for entry — eTAS (Electronic Travel Authorization System). Now, all foreign citizens planning to visit Somalia for tourism, business, or short-term study must obtain eTAS before traveling. Failure to obtain such authorization will result in denial of entry.

Who is required to obtain an eTAS?

All foreign citizens, including infants and children, must have an approved electronic visa before traveling. This also applies to individuals who have previously obtained visas upon arrival. Exceptions are:

• Citizens who hold multi-entry visas issued before September 1, 2025.
• Individuals who hold a residence or work permit in Somalia.

How to obtain an eTAS?

• A valid passport with a minimum validity of six (6) months after the planned date of arrival in Somalia, with at least one blank page
• A selfie or passport-type photo
• Contact information, email address, and phone number
• Details of the arrival and departure itinerary
• Confirmation of accommodation reservation
• Credit card, debit card, or other means of payment

2. Complete the online application.

Go to the official portal and create an account. Complete the application form, upload the required documents, and pay the consular fee.

3. Receive a decision.

Once your application has been processed, you will receive an eTAS confirmation email to the email address you provided. Print it out and keep it with you during your trip.

eTAS validity

eTAS is issued as a single-entry electronic authorization. The length of stay is determined at the time of application and depends on the purpose of the trip (usually up to 30 days). It is important that the visa must be used within 180 days from the date specified as the expected date of arrival in Somalia.

Visa on arrival is no longer available. Failure to obtain an eTAS will result in refusal of entry.
