To enter the territory of the Republic of Armenia, a certificate confirming a negative PCR test result for COVID-19 or a certificate confirming vaccination against COVID-19 is not required. The air and land borders of the Republic of Armenia are open to foreign citizens.
General requirements for obtaining a visa to Armenia
In accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Armenia, entry into the country is regulated by a visa regime. Depending on the country of arrival, foreign citizens have various privileges and restrictions for obtaining a visa:
- Visa-free entry.
- Visa-free regime, stay in the territory of Armenia for no more than 180 days.

Visa through the embassy
If your country is not included in any of the above lists, then a visa to Armenia can be obtained by applying directly to the Armenian Embassy in your country. If there is no Armenian embassy in your country, you need to contact the Armenian embassy in the nearest country.
Electronic visa (E-Visa)
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia issues and extends official and diplomatic visas, as well as e-visas. Visitor and Transit visas are issued and extended by the Passport and Visa Department of the Police of Armenia.
Categories of Armenian Visas
Visitor visa - A visitor visa is granted when a foreigner wants to enter the Republic of Armenia for the purpose of tourism, business, visiting relatives or other persons, transportation or other professional interests, medical treatment, or short-term residence. A visitor visa can be issued for single or multiple entries (valid for 1 year).
Official visa - for holders of Official or Special passports. For multiple entries with a validity period of 3 years for employees without a diplomatic status of foreign diplomatic missions and international organizations and their family members.
Single-entry visa or multiple-entry visa with a validity of 1 year for foreign officials who arrive in Armenia at the invitation of the Armenian authorities or foreign diplomatic missions and international organizations.
Single-entry or multiple-entry visa valid for 1 year for members of official delegations with regular passports.
Diplomatic visa - for holders of diplomatic passports and persons with diplomatic status.
Multiple-entry visas valid for 3 years for employees of foreign diplomatic missions and international organizations and their families.
Single-entry or multiple-entry visa valid for 1 year for members of official delegations, members of their families, and other officials.
Single-entry visa for 120 days if arriving in Armenia for non-official purposes.
Transit visa – a single-entry or a multiple-entry visa valid for 1 year with a stay in Armenia of no more than 3 days, and subject to extension for a maximum of 4 days.

Armenians who are citizens of these countries can obtain a visa without an invitation at the border checkpoints. Invitations can be submitted to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by:
- legal entities registered in Armenia.
- the authorities of Armenia and diplomatic missions and international organizations or their representatives (individuals provide invitations to the Passport and Visa Department of the Police).
Entry to Armenia
To enter the territory of the Republic of Armenia, foreigners must have a valid passport, visa, or a document certifying the status of special residence, unless the laws or international agreements of the Republic of Armenia otherwise provide.
Minor citizens of foreign countries may enter the territory of the Republic of Armenia accompanied by their parents, one of the parents or other legal representatives, or independently if they come to their parents, one of the parents, other legal representatives, or if they are received by an organization.
If a foreigner arrives in Armenia without an identity card or without a visa, or if he/she is denied a visa at the border point, then he/she cannot enter the territory of the Republic of Armenia and must be returned to the country of origin or the country from which he/she came to Armenia. The above does not apply if the purpose of the arrival is to obtain political asylum or refugee status.
If a foreigner passes through Armenia, he/she must present tickets to a third country or a visa of a third country and may stay in the territory of Armenia for no more than 72 hours, except in emergency cases.
Foreigners passing through Armenia by land can get transit visas without tickets and visas to a third country.
A foreigner can stay in the transit zone for no more than 48 hours if he is not going to enter Armenia, except in emergency cases.
In accordance with the information of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and the Consular Section of the Russian Embassy in Armenia, all persons entering the country are recommended to purchase a health insurance policy valid throughout Armenia. Insurance to Armenia with a minimum insurance amount of 30,000 euros covers basic travel expenses.
Protocol for entry into Armenia in 2022. Coronavirus insurance. According to the official website of the Armenian government, in 2022, foreigners can enter the country through land and air checkpoints, subject to security protocols. To be allowed into the country, foreigners over six years of age must provide one of the following documents:
- Certificate of test results for the presence of coronavirus (PCR three days before the visit).
- A document confirming the receipt of a full course of the drug for coronavirus, administered according to the manufacturer's instructions.
- Single-phase drug - 28 days before the visit, biphasic - 14 days before the visit.
- Requirements for the document on vaccination: printed on the official letterhead of the health care institution that carried out the vaccination; compiled in one of three languages: English, Armenian Russian, contains a QR code.
Armenia is also suitable for traveling with pets. When moving with pets, it is important to remember the following things:
- The first step is to mark your pet with a 15-digit ISO-compliant microchip.
- All pets must have a current rabies vaccination certificate.
- Other vaccinations for dogs include: rabies, distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, and parovirus.
- For cats: feline vioral rhinotracheitis, calicivirus and panleukopenia.
- A licensed veterinarian must complete a veterinary certificate for Armenia prior to travel.
- An import permit is not required when entering Armenia with a personal pet.
- Pets can enter Armenia through Zvartnots International Airport.
- All pet animals must be free of signs of a human-transmitted disease when examined at the port of entry.
- Armenia does not publish a list of prohibited breeds.
Transportation of animals
To transport a cat or dog you will need:
- rabies vaccination
- vaccination against infections
- chip
- veterinary certificate form No1
- parasite treatment
- pet carrier
The chip must be placed before vaccination. A mark about it is entered in the veterinary passport.
Vaccinations are valid for a year. Vaccination records must be entered into the animal passport.
Quarantine after vaccinations - 2 weeks. When it ends, you can get a veterinary certificate form No1 (this is a permit for an animal to border crossing).
