Student visa
A person who wishes to obtain permission to enter the Kingdom as a student is accepted for an approved period, depending on the duration of the course of study.
It is recommended that all international students who is wishing to study in Bhutan submit full visa documents at least 45 business days before entering Bhutan.
Academic sessions for full-time programs start from July to December, so students applying for full-time training are encouraged to follow the schedules and programs that are available. English language proficiency is also an important admission criterion.

Required documents for applying for a student visa:
- a copy of a valid passport (the passport must be valid for at least 6 months after the planned date of departure from Bhutan);
- completed visa application form;
- a letter of acceptance confirming that the applicant has been offered a full-time place of study at a recognized educational institution;
- the confirmation of the availability of sufficient funds to support yourself in the country for the duration of your studies;
- the confirmation that the tuition fee has been paid in full;
- issued private health insurance (documentary proof of this);
- the student must demonstrate their intention to leave the Kingdom at the end of their studies.
People who have study visa are allowed to live and work (with restrictions) in Bhutan for as long as they need to complete the course.
