Tourist visa to Qatar: what is worth visiting in the country

Qatar is an Arab on the peninsula, ranked the 4th richest country in the world in 2022, thanks to its strong economic status linked to its oil reserves. Doha, the country's capital, has a perfect mix of traditional bazaars and glitzy shopping malls. The state also boasts natural beauty, namely: vast sand dunes and pristine beaches.


How to get to Qatar

The most convenient way to get to Qatar is by air. Qatar Airways is the national airline, but many other airlines from different parts of the world also fly to Qatar. Hamad International Airport is the only point of entry if you are traveling by plane.

Approximate prices for direct flights:

  • seasonal period: September to October and April to May. The starting price for a single ticket is US$400;
  • low season: prices start to fall from November to March (excluding holiday periods). The starting price for a single ticket is US$190.


Qatar shares a land border with Saudi Arabia, with the Abu Samra border crossing being the only land entry point. Abu Samra is almost one hour's drive from Qatar's capital, Doha. A valid visa for both countries is required to enter the country by land transport.

Water transport:

The state has several seaports, but the port of Doha is the only seaport that is used to receive travelers.


Customs control

Some of the country's customs control rules. Prohibited:

  • Alcohol;
  • Firearms (allowed only with a special permit);
  • Drugs;
  • Pornography;
  • Pork products;
  • Religious books and items.

Permitted:

  • 400 cigarettes;
  • Personal items and souvenirs up to QAR 3,000.


Pets may enter the country if they have the necessary documents. The following procedure should proceed like this:

  • Animals must be transported in a cage (appropriate size, lockable) suitable for travel;
  • Necessary documents: health certificate, current vaccination certificates, the animal must be allowed to travel by air.




How to obtain a tourist visa

Qatar accepts nationals from more than 90 countries for visa-free visits. Visa-free travel is authorized upon arrival. After presenting a valid passport with a minimum validity of six months, a return ticket, and a hotel reservation for your planned stay in Qatar.

Important: Israeli passport holders are prohibited from entering Qatar.

Those who do not qualify for visa-free entry can apply for a tourist visa online. Its cost is 100 Qatari rials. Holders of a tourist visa can stay in Qatar for up to 30 days per trip.
