How to apply for an electronic visa (e-Visa) to enter Belarus?

To travel to Belarus, applications will need to be submitted through the Unified Portal of Electronic Services (UPES) of Belarus. To apply for a permit, you must provide:

- A completed online application form, which will contain the following information: surname, first name, gender, date of birth, passport details (type, number, validity period), information about the place of residence (country, postal address, phone number, e-mail), place of study or work (organization, company, position), information about the inviting party (inviting organization or person, contact person of the inviting party, travel details) and some information about the trip (address during the stay, type of host institution, funds during the stay, medical care).

- Valid passport.

- Health insurance policy.

You can pay for the e-Visa online with a credit card.

Important! The standard processing time for an e-visa application is seven calendar days, without accelerated options.

The e-visa will contain a QR code, with which you can verify its authenticity via the “E-Service” mobile application. It is worth clarifying that during your stay, visitors must be able to provide a copy of their e-visa in paper or digital format upon request from the relevant services.

The automation of visa issuance is part of a broader movement to modernize Belarusian consular services, which began with the introduction of the automated system "Consul" in 2016.

What to see in Belarus?

Belarus is close to anywhere in Europe, so you can visit it even as part of a weekend trip. Belarus may not be the most exotic country, but with all its strange places, it really deserves to be labeled as a good country to travel.

The Soviet legacy is undoubtedly the highlight and main magnet of the country, starting from the former Soviet border, transformed into an open-air museum, and ending with endless metro stations with Lenin, the hammer and sickle.

The capital, Minsk, showcases Stalinist architecture, and is certainly an interesting place to explore.

Plus, with over 11,000 lakes and 40% of the country covered in misty forest, the scenery is truly mesmerizing.

Add to that a few UNESCO World Heritage-listed castles and the largest Chernobyl Exclusion Zone that no one visits, and Belarus is sure to impress you, especially since you don’t expect it.

The introduction of the e-visa marks a significant step in Belarus’ efforts to modernize its travel procedures and attract foreign visitors.

As a reminder, Belarus attracts expats every year with its affordable cost of living and employment opportunities. We’ve already covered who is eligible to apply for Belarusian citizenship, the grounds for obtaining citizenship through naturalization, and the required list of documents.
