Dominica is a volcanic island unofficially known as “Nature Island” and virtually devoid of white-sand beaches. The core of the tourist experience here consists of dense tropical forests, water-filled canyons, and hot lakes. Saba: volcano climbing and diving among underwater spires

Saba is a tiny island shaped like a single volcanic peak rising straight out of the ocean. There are practically no beaches here, but instead, visitors can enjoy steep terrain, fog, and a complete absence of cruise ship crowds. Two activities are of greatest interest to active travelers: climbing to the highest point in the Kingdom of the Netherlands and diving among underwater volcanic pinnacles in the local marine park.

The key hiking route consists of 1,064 stone steps to the summit of Mount Scenerie. This is a dormant volcano and, according to its official status, the highest point in the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The climb is physically demanding but leads to a cloud forest. Saba Marine Park is known for its underwater volcanic pinnacles, which rise from the seafloor to nearly 85 feet below the surface. Saint Lucia: the volcanic Pitons and hot springs

Saint Lucia combines luxurious resorts with a rugged volcanic landscape. The island’s hallmarks are the two Pitons, lush valleys, and panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea. Travelers can enjoy both active hiking trails and natural spa treatments in the form of volcanic mud baths. The main physical challenge on the island is the climb up Gros Piton. The trail climbs steeply up the iconic volcanic peak, offering a panoramic view of the Caribbean Sea. Grenada is known for its beaches, among which Morne Rouge—known as the BBC—stands out. However, the island’s interior offers full-fledged jungle adventures: lush vegetation, the fragrant scents of spices, and hidden freshwater pools for swimming. For active travelers, there are both hiking trails through the national park and world-class diving off the coast. This combination allows you to pair hiking with underwater excursions all on the same island.

The main hiking challenge is the trek through Grand Étang National Park to the summit of Mount Sainte-Catherine, the island’s highest point. The trails are steep, muddy, and densely overgrown. Underwater, travelers will find the “Bianca S”—a massive sunken cruise liner known as the “Titanic of the Caribbean.” Another spot for divers is the underwater sculpture park.
