What has changed regarding ticket sales for Machu Picchu?

The Ministry of Culture of Peru has canceled the advance ticket reservation system for Machu Picchu. Now, buyers have 15 minutes to complete payment on the official Tu Boleto platform. After that, the reservation is canceled, and the tickets become available for purchase again. According to the ministry, the new rules are necessary to ensure that the number of tickets displayed on the website matches the actual number of tickets available for purchase.

The system is currently operating in a trial phase. Once this phase concludes, the 15-minute time limit for completing a purchase may be extended or shortened.

Named tickets to Machu Picchu: what information should you check?

Under the new rules, only named tickets are available for purchase. The information on your ID must match the information on the ticket; otherwise, you won’t be able to enter Machu Picchu.

Before paying, be sure to carefully check the spelling of your first name, last name, and other personal details. You won’t have much time to complete the purchase, so it’s best to have your ID ready in advance.
