Rules of entry and stay

Citizens of Ukraine can enter Bosnia and Herzegovina without a visa but are allowed to remain on the territory of the country up to 30 days. 

Documents needed for a visa-free entry to Bosnia and Herzegovina:

1. A valid passport or a different identification document under the condition that it is valid at least three months after the planned stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

2. Sufficient funds for living during the planned stay and departure including costs for medical care or proof of the opportunity to receive them. Minimal amount of financial resources needed for a foreigner’s stay on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina is 150 00 BAM (Convertible marks) or an equivalent in a freely convertible currency for every day of the planned stay.

3. Documents or information on the basis of which a conclusion about the goal and conditions of the planned stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina can be reached, if possible and required.

4. Medical insurance. Medical insurance for Bosnia and Herzegovina has to cover at least 30 000 Euros. It has to cover the entire stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina. 

5. A vaccination certificate if coming from a territory where there is an epidemic of a contagious illness. 

6. Not to be registered in the accounting of competent authorities as an individuals that had broken the law of Bosnia and Herzegovina or any foreign laws.

Entry to Bosnia and Herzegovina for underage individuals

A foreigner of age under 14 that has a personal travel document can cross the border of Bosnia and Herzegovina accompanied by one or both of the parents, a legal guardian or caretaker, or by a person authorized to accompany them together with the signed and notarized consent from one of the parents, the legal guardian or caretaker. Underage individuals travelling unaccompanied must have a notarized consent from one of the parents, the legal guardian or caretaker.

Competent authorities of Bosnia and Herzegovina can issue the following visas:

a) short-term visas (visa C),

b) long-term visas (visa D).

Short-term visa (visa C)

Allows a foreigner to enter the country once or multiple times under the condition that any continuous stay or total duration of several consecutive stays in Bosnia and Herzegovina last more than 90 days during a six-month period from the date of the first entry. A short-term visa is issued for a single or multiple entries to Bosnia and Herzegovina. A short-term visa is issued for a period not longer than one year. 

A short-term visa is issued for business, educational purposes, for tourist trips, trips to political, scientific, cultural, sports, religious or other events, as well as for travel for other reasons that require only a short stay.

Long-term visa (visa D)

Allows a foreigner to stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina for a period of six months to one year starting from the day of the first entry. A long-term visa is issued for a single or multiple entries to Bosnia and Herzegovina. A long-term visa is issued exclusively in cases when your stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina has to exceed 90 days in the span of six months. It is issued for a period of less than one year.
