Education in Botswana for US citizenship

A study visa is issued to students who have been accepted to educational institutions in Botswana. The visa is issued for a period of up to three months and can be extended if there are grounds.

Who is eligible for a visa?

All foreigners who need a visa to enter Botswana for study purposes are eligible for this service.

How to apply for a student visa in Botswana?

Visit any Botswana immigration office, embassy or consulate to complete and submit the form (visa application) in person. After seven working days, you will find out the result of consideration of your application at the office where it was submitted.

An approval/denial letter is sent to the office where the application was submitted.

If the visa application is approved, it will be printed at the office where the application was submitted. If the visa has not yet been printed, the applicant can travel with the letter of approval as proof of visa to Botswana and the visa will be printed at the airport/immigration port.

What supporting documents are required?

Along with the questionnaire, the following documents must be submitted:

• A certified copy of pages 1 and 2 of a passport with a validity period of at least six months;
• Two recent color passport size photographs;
• A cover letter indicating the reasons for the visit;
• Flight route and accommodation reservation or residential address in Botswana;
• Letter of acceptance by an educational institution;
• Study/Research Permit;
• Proof of sponsorship.

It will take seven to fourteen days.

The service is free.
