Requirements for work visa applicants:
Depending on your goal and type of activity in Brazil, you can get:
- Obtaining a VIVIS business visa in Brazil will allow you to stay in the country for 90 days to develop commercial operations, represent a foreign enterprise, and perform various business-related duties, including attending meetings, finding opportunities, and conducting audits.
- An immigrant who receives a job offer in Brazil with an employment agreement must first obtain a residence permit in accordance with the requirements which were established by law with regard to immigration aspects, and CLT.
VITEM V visa is required if:
- an immigrant who has an employment contract in Brazil;
- an immigrant who doesn’t have an employment contract concluded in Brazil, but goes to Brazil to carry out technical cooperation within the framework of a contract or cooperation agreement concluded between a foreign legal entity and legal entities registered in Brazil;
- an immigrant who doesn’t have an employment contract in Brazil travels to Brazil for technology transfer under a contract or cooperation agreement concluded between a foreign legal entity and legal entities registered in Brazil;
- an immigrant who doesn’t have an employment contract concluded in Brazil goes to work on board a sea cruise ship in the shores of Brazil for a period of more than ninety days;
- an immigrant who doesn’t have an employment contract concluded in Brazil is sent to permanent work to carry out professional maritime activities on board a ship or platform under a foreign flag, which is or will be in the territorial waters of Brazil, for a period of more than 90 days;
- an immigrant who doesn’t have an employment contract in Brazil is traveling to provide services or technical support to the Brazilian Board of directors;
- an immigrant who doesn’t have an employment contract concluded in Brazil travels under an international cooperation agreement recognized as such by the Ministry of Foreign States of Brazil, as a specialist, performer, volunteer, scientist or researcher in a public, private or non-governmental organization;
- an immigrant who doesn’t have an employment contract in Brazil travels to Brazil as a representative of a financial or other similar organization registered abroad;
- an immigrant who doesn’t have an employment contract in Brazil goes to Brazil as a representative of a private non-profit organization;
- an immigrant who doesn’t have an employment contract concluded in Brazil goes to Brazil for an indefinite period due to the special requirements of federal legislation providing for residence in Brazil in the performance of certain duties or functions;
- an immigrant running in Brazil as a correspondent for newspapers, magazines, radio stations, a TV channel or a news agency of a foreign state;
- an immigrant who doesn’t have an employment contract in Brazil manages organizations located in a multinational company with headquarters in Brazil, performing operational, technical or administrative functions, for the purpose of professional retraining or mastering the business culture and management model adopted at the company's headquarters, as well as the exchange of personnel and professional experience;
- an immigrant who doesn’t have an employment contract in Brazil runs a foreign company for professional internship at a subsidiary, branch or headquarters registered in Brazil and belonging to the same group;
- an immigrant, with an employment contract concluded as a professional athlete in accordance with the definition given in the current legislation, with a private sports organization in accordance with the conditions set out in Article 46 of Law №9615 of 24 March 1998 and its latest versions;
- an immigrant who doesn’t have an employment contract concluded in Brazil goes to work on board a foreign fishing vessel located or will be located in the territorial waters of Brazil under a lease agreement concluded with a legal entity registered in Brazil, acting as a tenant for a period of more than 90 days;
- an immigrant sent to participate in a professional experience exchange program with a company registered in Brazil.
Visa validity period
Valid for up to one year-the deadline for entering the country. The period of stay in Brazil is up to 2 years, in accordance with the permission of the Ministry of Justice and National Security.
Required documents:
For the sponsor company, you must:
- corporate documentation;
- payment of the corresponding fee;
- detailed justification of the immigrant hiring company;
- signed employment contract for a certain or indefinite period (according to the model established by law)

For an immigrant:
- valid passport (recommended for more than 6 months);
- personal data;
- proof of professional experience, properly legalized (consular procedure) or Apostille based on The Hague Convention or Apostille, learn more
- the certificate of education related to activities to be developed in Brazil is properly legalized (consular procedure) or apostilled on the basis of The Hague Convention or Apostille.
- printed confirmation of filling out the visa application form with a color photo 3x4 pasted on and the applicant's signature.

- supporting documents from the company registered in Brazil that calls you to work.
Holders of this type of visa must register with the Federal Police within 90 days of first entering Brazil. When registering with the Federal Police, the documents must be officially translated into Portuguese.
