Work/Business

Brunei offers a wide range of work permits and visas for various purposes:

  1. A business visa (BVV) is a short — term pass for doing business within the country. You can use BVV for a number of business events, such as meetings, contract negotiations, and the purchase and sale of goods.
  2. For long — term work and larger projects, individuals need a foreign employee license — Lesen Pekerja Asing (LPA) - and a work permit.
  3. If a person plans to hold a work pass for three months or more, they must also apply for a Green Identity Card.
  4. Members of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) who have a Brunei-approved APEC business travel card (ABTC) can enter the country for business without a visa.
  5. If a non-citizen intends to work in the oil, construction, or IT industries for less than a year, they must apply for a special permit (SAWP) that is not subject to renewal.

Every foreigner who intends to work in Brunei Darussalam must have a valid work visa approved by the Department of Immigration and national registration, which is issued at the Embassy of Brunei. Malaysians and Singaporeans are exempt from a work visa.
