Entry requirements for Spaniards traveling to Bulgaria
For Spanish citizens, no visa is required to visit Bulgaria. Spaniards may enter the country with a valid passport or ID card. Be aware that specific conditions apply for short-term and long-term visits, so ensure you’re familiar with these regulations before your trip.
How long can Spaniards stay in Bulgaria?
There are no strict time limits for citizens of Spain staying in Bulgaria, provided they meet conditions like residence registration after a specified period. For stays longer than 90 days, it’s advisable to familiarize yourself with the country’s residency and registration requirements.
Documents needed for Spanish citizens traveling to Bulgaria
To enter Bulgaria, citizens of Spain must provide:
- A valid passport or ID card as proof of identity and citizenship.
- Proof of travel purpose, like a hotel reservation or invitation letter.
- Evidence of financial means, which may be checked if necessary.
- Medical insurance to cover healthcare expenses during the stay.
Requirements for a long-term stay in Bulgaria
If you plan to stay in Bulgaria for over 90 days, here’s what you need:
1. Residence registration with local authorities at the municipal office or police department.
2. Proof of financial stability for certain types of registrations.
3. Medical insurance, particularly if employment or social benefits are involved.
4. Work permit, required for employment-related stays.
Ensure you complete all administrative processes on time to avoid fines or restrictions on your stay.
If you don’t have the right to enter Bulgaria without a visa, you may need an airport transit visa.
An airport transit visa can be single-entry, double-entry, or, as an exception, multiple-entry, with a validity period of three months from the date of its issuance.
What does an A-type transit visa do?
An airport transit visa entitles a foreigner to cross the border or stay in the international transit zone of the airport in the event of a transit landing or change of flights in order to continue traveling to another country.
If you want to travel to Bulgaria with your pet, your pet will need a microchip, proof of rabies vaccination, and a health certificate approved by a veterinarian. Part of the medical certificate is a written statement by the owner or person accompanying the animals that the animals are not subject to movement for the purpose of selling or transferring these goods.
Your pet must also be accompanied by an animal's passport.
