Rules of entry and stay

Cambodia has lifted restrictions on foreign travelers entering the country. Cambodia has abolished the requirement to present a negative RT-PCR test result for COVID-19 before arrival, to undergo a COVID-19 rapid test upon arrival, and to quarantine upon arrival for fully vaccinated individuals. In addition, starting from October 3, 2022, foreigners are not required to show vaccination certificates or medical declarations upon arrival at land, sea, and air entries. However, there are remote thermometers and officials at the border to help monitor COVID-19 symptoms.

In terms of entry visas, Cambodian visas are resumed upon arrival for international travelers by air, land, and sea. Travelers can also apply for an e-visa online. The latest updates are available at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

Tourists must take out an insurance policy for the entire duration of their stay in the country. It should cover the cost of COVID-19 treatment in the amount of USD 50 thousand or more, as well as funeral services with a coverage of at least USD 10 thousand.

A visa is a mandatory requirement for most foreigners to enter Cambodia.

Citizens of Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia, Brunei Darussalam, Myanmar do not need a tourist visa and can stay in Cambodia for 21 and 30 days respectively.

Most Cambodian tourists obtain a visa upon arrival at the international airports of Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. When crossing by land from Thailand, Vietnam and Laos, a visa can be obtained at the border of an international checkpoint;

Tourists can also obtain a visa prior to arrival through a Cambodian embassy or consulate abroad. Tourists can also obtain an e-visa through the website https://www.evisa.gov.kh/ before traveling.

With an e-visa, a tourist has the right to stay in Cambodia for no more than 30 days. Travelers visiting Cambodia for reasons other than tourism are not eligible for an e-Visa. Instead, they must apply for one of the other Cambodian visas, which include business, retirement, and student visas.

A tourist visa, including an e-visa, can be extended for up to 30 days. To do this, you need to contact the immigration authorities in Cambodia.

To apply for an e-visa through the website https://www.evisa.gov.kh/ you need:

1. Fill out the application form;

2. Confirm all the data in the application form and pay the visa fee of USD 37;

3. Obtain an electronic visa within 3 days;

4. Show the immigration officer at the checkpoint the electronic visa.

You need to apply for a 30-day visa at the airport upon arrival:

- Two photos of 4 * 6 cm (color);

- A passport with a validity period of at least 6 months before the end of the trip;

- Pay a visa fee of USD 30.

More information on visa requirements is available at https://www.embassyofcambodiadc.org/tourist_visa_type-t.html

If you overstay your visa, a fine of USD 10 per day will be imposed.
