In order to pursue an academic course in Chile, you must obtain a Chilean student visa. However, in some cases, such as when the course is for a shorter period of time, a student visa may not be required, depending on your nationality.
Requirements:
- Certificate of admission from a university or any educational institution recognized by the Chilean state;
- Evidence of a scholarship or student loan (otherwise, the student must prove that he has enough resources to survive in the country - proof of income, financial support of parents, etc.);
- Valid passport;
- Health certificates indicating that the applicant does not suffer from an infectious/infectious disease;
- Criminal record issued by the police (age from 18); and
- 3 passport photos.
- Completed form for a visa in Chile*:

- Printed, not handwritten
- Enrollment/confirmation letter from a Chilean institution containing the following information:
- Your name
- When will classes start and when will they end?
- How long you will be enrolled in the educational institution
- Contact information of the educational institution
- Proof of legal status in your country of residence, such as a permanent residence card (only if you live in a country other than your country of citizenship).
- For minors (under 18): permission to travel from parents or legal guardians.

This visa is granted for the period of study, for a maximum of one year. An appointment may be required
Important:
The visa in Chile is renewed.
Students are not allowed to work under this visa.
After receiving the visa, the student has 90 days to enter Chile.
To obtain a visa, the applicant must appear in person.
In order to obtain a Chilean student visa, you must first be enrolled in a Chilean educational institution. Then you need to first submit the online application and then appear at the Chilean consulate to collect it.
It can be extended in Chile at the Departamento de Extranjeria y Migration for the duration of your studies. You can start renewing your student visa in Chile up to 90 days in advance.
If you are a scholarship student, your student visa in Chile can be issued for the duration of your scholarship.
If the duration of your course is less than 1 year, your student visa in Chile will be issued for that period (eg six months).
A work permit for students is usually issued only in the following cases:
- If you are engaged in professional practice related to education
- If work is needed to be able to pay for education
- To obtain a work permit, you must have a job offer and submit the following documents to the immigration office in your area:
- Photocopies of the relevant pages of your passport (personal details, dates of issue/expiry, visa pages, including the Chilean student visa stamp page).
- Signed job offer or employment contract. The document must be signed by you and your employer in front of a notary public.
- Your valid student ID.
- A photocopy of your Chilean ID, if applicable.
- A letter explaining why you are making this request.
