Obtaining citizenship in Côte d'Ivoire

Foreign nationals cannot obtain an Ivorian residence permit from an embassy or consulate. They must obtain a long-term visa and then apply for a residence permit upon arrival in Côte d'Ivoire.

To obtain residency, you need to contact the National Office of Civil Status Identification (ONECI) in Côte d'Ivoire.

An approximate list of documents that must be submitted to obtain a Resident Card:

Copy of passport
A copy of the visa and stamp for entry into Côte d'Ivoire
Certificate of residence, issued less than 6 months ago
Employment certificate (for those working in Côte d'Ivoire)
Certificate of criminal record
Payment receipt
Proof of education, or school or student income for the current year (for pupils and students).

The national identity card is valid for 10 years, after which it will need to be renewed.
