Travelers must take care of the INGALA Transit Control Card to visit the Galapagos Islands. It can be issued on the website or directly at the airports of Quito and Guayaquil.

Entry into the country is also possible by land. The land border with Colombia is open to all travelers through the international border checkpoint Rumichaka from 8:00 to 17:00. The border with Peru reopened on February 18, 2022 for all travelers through the international border crossings of Vakillas and Macara, open from 8 am to 5 pm.

Ecuador has a visa-free regime with most countries. Travelers must provide a passport or Andean migration card when crossing the border. A T-3 visa stamp is usually affixed to the passport. It indicates the number of days allowed for the stay. This is usually 60 or 90 days. Travelers will also be asked for a return ticket to make sure tourists do not stay more than 90 days.

The visa entry regime applies to citizens of the following countries:

Citizens of these countries must present a passport with a valid visa at entry.

What else is required for entry:

Certificate of employment confirming income of at least $ 500 per month; or any other document confirming that the traveler has funds to cover the stay in Ecuador. Tourists must send a bank notification to a consular department, which confirms transactions within the last 3 months and funds in the amount of 1000 US dollars or the equivalent in euros;
Visa application form for citizens of certain countries, completed in English or Spanish.
