Embassy contacts
- You are a citizen of the EU/EEA or Switzerland (for more details, please follow the link).
- You live in a country with a visa-free regime with Schengen (e.g. the USA, the UK, Canada, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, etc.) In this case, you can only stay in Estonia for 90 days within a 180-day period. For a longer stay, you need an Estonian national visa.
- A valid international passport. The passport must be valid for at least three months after the date of return with two blank pages. Attach copies of previous visas (if any).
- Visa application form. You must fill out the application form online, print a hard copy and sign it at the end.
- Two passport-size photos.
- Schengen health insurance. Valid health insurance with coverage of at least 30,000 euros in Estonia and the Schengen area.
- Cover letter. The cover letter should indicate the purpose of your visit to Estonia, date and time of departure, date of return, etc.
- Proof of residence. A document confirming that you have a place to live in Estonia. This document can be:
- Bank account statement. This is a document issued by your bank, which must confirm that you have at least 100 euros per day for the entire duration of your stay in Estonia.
- Biometric information (fingerprints). When submitting the necessary documents to the embassy or consulate, you must submit your fingerprints.
- Contact the Estonian consulate/embassy in your country and make an appointment. If there is no Estonian consulate or embassy in your country, you can contact the consulate of another Schengen country representing Estonia and make an appointment.
- Fill out the application form. Fill out the application form in the Estonian visa system online. Download it, sign it at the end and submit it along with other required documents to the consulate or embassy.
- Pay the fee. You must pay a visa fee when submitting your documents. The cost of the fee varies depending on the type of visa you are applying for or your citizenship. Be sure to include your payment receipt with the other required documents.
- Submit your documents.
- Wait for a response. You will receive a response from the embassy or consulate by email or SMS with the result of your application.
If you do not have the right to visa-free entry to Estonia, you may need an airport transit visa.
An airport transit visa (type A) may be issued to a foreigner to enter, stay in and leave the international transit zone of an Estonian airport in the next transit state or destination state to which a foreigner has legal grounds to enter. A transit visa through the airport does not entitle you to enter Estonia and stay in Estonia.

To import pets to Estonia, all animals must have:
Microchip for pets. Your pet must be chipped with a 15-digit unencrypted microchip that complies with ISO 11784/11785.
Vaccinations . Your dog or cat should have a valid rabies vaccination after chipping.
Health certificate. A licensed veterinarian must complete an EU medical certificate for Estonia 10 days before the trip. If your pet travels from the United States, the veterinarian must be accredited by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the health certificate must be certified by the state Department of Agriculture. If you are traveling to Estonia from another country, the forms must be certified by the state body responsible for the import and export of animals.
Import of animals to Estonia from Malaysia and Australia
If your pet enters Estonia from the Malaysian Peninsula, the following conditions must be met:
Your pet has not been in contact with pigs for at least 60 days prior to export,
Your pet has not lived in a place where Nipah has been confirmed for the past 60 days.
In a laboratory approved for testing for Nipah disease viruses, your animal tested negative within 10 days of export.
Cats can enter Estonia from Australia only if they have not lived in areas where cases of Hendra have been confirmed in the last 60 days.

A passenger arriving in Estonia from a country outside the European Union (ie from a third country) may carry duty-free non-commercial goods worth no more than 300 euros, and in the case of air passengers and passengers of sea and cruise ships - no more than 430 euro. Alcohol, tobacco products and motor fuel are subject to duty-free quantitative restrictions.
Goods imported by a passenger in his luggage, which are of a commercial nature or exceed the duty-free value or quantity, which is subject to customs duty, turnover tax and excise duty.
There are special requirements for the import of certain goods or personal belongings (eg products, medicines, etc.) into Estonia, and the import of certain goods is prohibited. The list of prohibited goods and goods with a special permit can be found here.
Which goods are subject to declaration?
The following is subject to declaration:
goods whose value exceeds the duty-free threshold;
goods, the quantity of which exceeds the duty-free threshold;
goods for which a special permit is required.
Choice of customs corridors
At the border crossing point, where you can choose between different customs corridors, the passenger must behave as follows:
choose a green corridor if it has with it goods that are not subject to declaration;
choose a red corridor if it has with it the goods to be declared.
If you are not sure whether your product needs to be declared, you should choose a red corridor.
At a border crossing point where there are no customs corridors, the passenger should apply for declaring the goods or granting a special permit to a customs official.

Permissible speed:
settlement – 50 km / h
outside the settlement – 90 km / h
highway – 110 km / h
The maximum alcohol level is 0.2 ‰.
It is forbidden to talk on the phone while driving.
Seat belts are mandatory for all passengers, for the carriage of children – a child seat / booster is mandatory for children under 12 years.
Please note that when you drive to Estonia, your local driver's license will not be enough to drive legally. One of the requirements for driving in Estonia is the presence of an international driver's license. This is a translation of your local driver's license into 12 UN-recognized languages.
In addition, you must be at least 18 years old to travel legally in the country. Even if you already have a local driver's license at the age of 17 in your country, when you visit Estonia, you are still not allowed to drive.
