A valid work visa is a mandatory requirement of the Hong Kong Immigration Department for all foreign citizens who wish to work in Hong Kong.
List of required documents:
- Questionnaire
- Photo on a white background in digital form in JPEG format, with size 3.5x4.5;
- International passport;
Attention: if the visa applicant doesn’t have a second valid foreign passport, it is necessary to provide a certificate from the authorized body confirming the presence of only one foreign passport / or cancellation of invalid foreign passports.
- Application for obtaining a visa ID (E) 990A with the signatures of the Applicants;
- Application for obtaining a visa (E) 990B with signatures of the sponsoring company;
- A copy of the applicant's passport;
- A copy of the employment contract between the applicant and the sponsor employer;
- Copies of constituent documents from the employer company;
- A copy of financial documents from the employer company.

1) The work visa.
Such a visa can be short-term or long-term.
Short-term visa
1. A Short-Term Visa is usually issued for:
- conclusion of contracts or submission of tenders;
- inspection or supervision of the installation/packaging of goods or equipment;
- participation in exhibitions or fairs (except for the sale of goods or services to the general public or the construction of exhibition stands);
- settlement of compensation or other civil proceedings;
- participate in targeting a specific product range;
- attend short-term seminars or other business meetings.
When obtaining such permission, a visitor to Hong Kong must comply with the following conditions of stay:
- they should not be hired for any job, whether paid or unpaid;
- it should not create or participate in any business;
- they must not become a student of a school, university, or other educational institution.

Long-term visa
Attention! The applicant must apply and obtain a work visa before entering Hong Kong.
To successfully apply for a work visa to Hong Kong, you must adhere to the main criteria that the Migration Service pays special attention to, namely:
1. The applicant (individual) must receive an employment offer before applying for a visa;
2. The applicant (individual) must have unique qualifications and relevant work experience, which is not available in Hong Kong, to meet the requirements for obtaining a visa.
3. The applicant must be appointed to a management-level position, and the salary offered must correspond to the market rate.
4.the sponsor company must be financially stable and healthy.
5.the sponsor company must have local employees, and the office space is already equipped.
Note:
- Initially obtained visa is valid for a maximum of 24 months (sometimes less).
- After obtaining a visa, the applicant has the right to apply for an identity card in Hong Kong.
- If the applicant continues to work for the same employer, he/she has the right to apply for a work visa extension after the current visa expires. As a rule, the visa is extended for 3 years.
- If the applicant leaves and finds a new job, he/she must apply for a change of sponsor, even if the work visa has not yet expired.

2) Obtaining a work visa on the basis of conducting investment activities.
To obtain a work visa, the investment activity carried out or intended must have real benefits for the Hong Kong economy as a whole. As long as all the circumstances specified in the application take effect during the application review process, it is possible to clearly identify the main elements that are the main factors for successfully obtaining a visa:
- Availability of available capital to invest in the Hong Kong economy.
- Detailed business plan for the development of your business for the next one to three years.
- Job creation (at least one at the initial stage (1 year).

3) Visa for employees who are improving their skills (Hong Kong training Visa).
The Hong Kong training visa is granted to those who want to come to Hong Kong in order to acquire certain skills related to their specialty.
Usually, such a visa is issued with a period of only one year. As soon as the training ends, you must leave Hong Kong. In this case, you cannot change the type of work visa while staying in Hong Kong.
