Do I need a visa to enter Iceland?

No, Ukrainian citizens do not need a visa to Iceland. However, the maximum period of stay in the country should not exceed 90 days.

What documents are required for a tourist visa to Iceland?

Iceland visa application form. The form contains questions about your identity and the purpose of your trip to Iceland. Make sure that the information you provide in this form matches the information in the rest of the documents. After filling out the form, print it out and sign it at the end.
Two photos.
Valid passport. Your passport must have been issued within the last 10 years. It must be valid for another 3 months after the date when you plan to leave Iceland. Make sure that it has at least two blank pages to put on the visa sticker.
Copies of old visas. If you have had any visa to the countries of the Schengen area or any other country in the world, please provide copies of them.
Travel health insurance for the entire duration of your stay in Iceland
Complete Iceland travel itinerary. A document issued by the airline which is confirmed that you have booked a flight from your country to Iceland and back. It contains information such as your flight name, departure/arrival time, as well as dates, your flight code, and flight booking numbers.
Confirmation of financial capabilities. You must prove that you have enough money to support yourself financially during your stay in Iceland. You must confirm that you have about 29 euros for each day you plan to spend in Iceland.
Proof of residence in Iceland. You will need to provide proof that you have agreed on where you will live for the entire duration of your stay in Iceland. This may be one of the following: Book a hotel for the entire period that you plan to stay in Iceland, Rental agreement with an Icelandic landlord for the entire period of your stay in Iceland, An invitation letter from the host in Iceland, in which the host invites you to stay with you while you are in Iceland, Certificate of civil status. This can be a birth certificate, marriage certificate, etc.

The cost of an Icelandic Tourist Visa is 90 euros. Depending on how payment is regulated in your country of residence, you may need to pay the fee online at the time of application or in cash at the beginning of the visa interview.

How long will it take to get a tourist visa to Iceland?

Consideration of an application for a tourist visa to Iceland takes no more than 15 working days. Although the period may be very different from one country to another, as Iceland is represented by different embassies, in most cases a decision on your application will be made within 15 days.

What is the validity period of an Icelandic Tourist Visa?

An Icelandic Tourist Visa is valid for a maximum of 90 days for six months. However, the validity period depends on the decision of the body responsible for its registration. If the consulate/embassy that processes your visa decides that you only need 12 days to stay in Iceland, then your visa will only be valid for 12 days and you will not be able to stay longer. The embassy / consulate also decides how many times you can enter Iceland.

Please note that if you are traveling to other Schengen countries, the number of days you spent there will also be counted.

Can I extend my tourist visa?

An Icelandic visa extension is only allowed in some very special cases. That is, if you provide evidence that you cannot leave Iceland due to force majeure natural or humanitarian reasons that prevent you from leaving.

The Icelandic Airport Transit Visa is a short-stay visa that allows you to pass through an airport in Iceland. If you need to land at an airport in Iceland only to transit to a destination country that is not part of the Schengen Agreement, you may need to apply for a visa before departure.

Countries that require a transit visa for the airport

Citizens of the following countries need a transit visa to travel through an Icelandic airport, regardless of whether they are connecting in Iceland or not:

Afghanistan, Bangladesh, People's Republic of Congo, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Iran, Iraq, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia, Sri Lanka and Somalia.

Who can be exempted from the transit visa to Icelandic airport?

You will be exempt from the Icelandic airport transit visa requirement if:

You have a valid single entry visa, national long-term visa or residence permit issued by an EU/EEA country
You are a third country national and have a valid residence permit issued by Andorra, Canada, Japan, San Marino or the United States of America that guarantees your unconditional transit mission
You are a member of the flight crew performing duties and are a citizen of a country that is a party to the Chicago Convention on International Civil Aviation (ICAO).

Importing pets into the country requires an import permit issued by the Icelandic food and veterinary administration (MAST). In addition to the import permit, pets must meet the requirements of vaccination and testing. Iceland also has a mandatory quarantine for all domestic dogs and cats that arrive in the country.
