Travel to Kenya for Greece citizenship

1. Microchip for pets. Your pet must be chipped with a 15-digit unencrypted microchip that complies with ISO 11784/11785.
2. Vaccination. Your dog or cat must be vaccinated against rabies at least 30 days and no more than 12 months before entry. Unvaccinated puppies and kittens under the age of 3 months can enter Kenya with their mother's vaccination certificate. But you should remember that Kenya recognizes the 3-year-old Living Avianized vaccine only for dogs.
3. Certificate of health. Shortly before the trip, a veterinary who accredited USDA (or CFIA) must complete a certificate for Kenya for USDA or CFIA approval if your pet is traveling from the United States or Canada. If you enter Kenya from another country, it is recommended that you obtain approval from the government body who is responsible for importing and exporting pets.

You can rent a car in Kenya at the airport or downtown. An international driver's license allows you to drive a car in Kenya. However, you should remember that Kenya has a left-hand drive. However, if you plan to stay longer than 3 months, it is recommended to obtain a Kenyan driver's license. Renting a car, you ought to be especially careful in large cities to constant violations of the rules by local drivers, especially taxis, which are also called "matatu".

Keep in mind that under Kenyan law, any accident is not subject to administrative but to criminal investigation. Compensation payments from insurance companies are usually delayed for years. Therefore, it is safer and more economical to rent a car with a local driver.

This will be the most convenient way to have access to the internet while traveling in Kenya.The government is strict about getting sim cards. Once you have successfully activated M-Pesa, you will be able to use services such as money transfer, cash withdrawals, airtime purchases, applying for loans and savings, and paying bills (Lipa na M-Pesa). 

3. In 2017, as part of an environmental campaign to support wildlife, the Kenyan government introduced a ban on the use of plastic bags. According to this act, anyone who produces, uses, sells, or distributes plastic bags will be held legally liable. To avoid serious problems, make sure you don't have plastic bags in your belongings or luggage. Dispose of them at the airport (in your country) to avoid trouble and fines.

4. One of the common problems for tourists in Kenya is sockets. They use a type G plug, which has a standard voltage of 240 V.

5. There are many ways to get around Kenya. There are domestic flights, car rentals, matatus (minibus), buses, motorcycle taxis (piki-pikis), bicycles with a padded passenger seat (boda boda) and taxis.

Domestic flights

Most safari parks have airfields that serve safari clients, such as the Masai Mara. In addition, there are also flights to major cities such as Nairobi, Mombasa, Kisumu, Eldoret, Kitale and Nanyuki. There are also flights to coastal resorts, such as Diani Beach.There are many airlines that operate domestic flights to and from the country. Prices are also budget-friendly. For example, a round-trip flight from Nairobi to Mombasa costs an average of $58 USD (3,000 GBP and 6,030 Kenyan shillings). This is cheaper compared to the approximate round-trip fares because they are not affected by the season. Speaking of park fares, a flight from Nairobi to Masai Mara can cost $345 (35,790 Kenyan shillings) during peak seasons.

Renting a car

You can arrange to rent a car as all parks and reserves are open to private vehicles. There is an age requirement, so you can rent a car if you are 23 years old (the minimum age for others is 25 years old) or older.Prices vary, but if you choose to rent a car with a guided driver, you will usually pay an additional Kshs 3,000 (about 29 USD) per day. Check with the rental company to see if they have collision damage warning (CDW), theft protection (TPW), and a passenger transportation license (PSV). These documents will at least reduce the bills you have to pay if something happens to the car, for example, if it falls asleep.

Matatu (minibus)

This is the local name for a minibus, which is the main means of transportation for locals. The cost of a matatu ride ranges from 3 to 7 Kenyan shillings per kilometer. If you are traveling from the airport to the city center, you will pay at least 40 KSh (0.39 USD). If you have luggage, you won't have to pay for it, unless it's very heavy. Usually, the matatu route runs only around cities or towns. But there are also matatu that travel from city to city. Usually, drivers will not try to overcharge you but if in doubt, ask other passengers.

Piki-piki/tuk-tuk (motorcycle taxi)

Some cities have motorcycle taxis, which they call piki-pikis. Unlike matatu, the fare in a piki-piki is not fixed, so you will have to negotiate a reasonable price with the driver first. You can only ride a piki-piki for short distances. They may overcharge you if you take them on long routes. Also, for long trips, it is safer to use buses or taxis. A piki-piki driver may ask you for 100 KSh (1 USD) for a short distance ride.

Boda Boda (bicycle taxis)In smaller towns, there are no taxis, so you can use either a piki-piki or a boda boda. A boda boda is a bike taxi with a padded seat for passengers. Obviously, this is only suitable for short distances. The minimum fare is about 100 Kenyan shillings (1 US dollar). It is quite expensive and slow, so if you have another choice and if it is safe, use it.

Taxis

You can find a taxi in almost any city, even the most remote if it is a tourist destination. As mentioned earlier, you should only use the services of trusted taxi companies (e.g. yellow taxis) or book a taxi in advance with apps like Uber or Bolt (formerly Taxify). Yellow cabs have fixed fares, so they won't overcharge you. A short distance ride can cost between 350 and 600 Kenyan shillings.
