The education system in Kirgistan
Primary education
School education in Kyrgyzstan is compulsory during the first nine years, from about 7 to 15 years. After an optional period in a private or state kindergarten, children are enrolled in the first part of basic education at the primary school for four years.
Secondary education
The system is continued by the final stage of basic education at secondary school for five years, at the end of which it is expected that the pupils will be well prepared either for higher education or for the first work.

Higher education
The first two years of secondary school are also mandatory, although many students miss this opportunity. There are three streams: secondary, specialized, and vocational. Unfortunately, those who finally complete the process make up a small part of the population.
Higher education in Kyrgyzstan usually lasts five years; the two-week system starts in September and ends in May winter vacation in one month.
Educational institutions usually choose the courses they want to offer and students are issued with a "Diploma (specialization in the field of education)". Students can obtain a Ph.D. during the next three years, during which they usually write a dissertation and finally can get a Ph.D. degree, for which one more dissertation is needed. The latter, as a rule, is synonymous with post-graduate training.

It is necessary that this training be highly specialized and conducted in institutions created under the Soviet system for the formation of the intellectual elite.
