Employment permit

To obtain an employment permit, the employer must submit an application on behalf of the employee to the General Directorate of General Security of Lebanon. Before doing so, foreigners wishing to work in Lebanon must obtain prior approval from the Ministry of Labor.

The rules for obtaining a work permit differ slightly depending on the type of work you intend to do. The official rule is the same as in many other countries - the employer must prove that he cannot find an employee with similar experience and qualifications in Lebanon. In reality, the government rarely enforces this rule, and if you have all the documents in order and paid the fee, you will probably get permission.
