Puppies and kittens under 3 months of age (12 weeks) are too small to be vaccinated against rabies, so they must travel with the mother's rabies vaccination. For the vaccination to be considered valid, the mother must have an up-to-date rabies vaccination during pregnancy with puppies or kittens. Before vaccination, puppies or kittens must be implanted with a microchip.

Pets must be microchipped, the microchip must be implanted either before being vaccinated against rabies or together with rabies vaccination.

All international destinations require the presence of a valid vaccination against rabies. Valid means that the vaccination must be made no more than a year and not less than thirty days before the expected date of travel. It is necessary to check in advance the certificate of vaccination of your pet so that there are no problems when it's time to travel.

Annual vaccination of dogs and cats is recommended. If your pet needs a boarding house before or after the trip, all reputable nurseries will insist on providing a valid vaccination certificate.

Medical certificate (valid for 10 days)

A medical certificate and permission to move must be completed by a private veterinarian and then handed over to the state veterinarian for approval. A health certificate must be made within 7 days after export.

• Livestock, seeds, bulbs, plants and trees may not be imported without payment of Customs and Sales Duty and are subject to quarantine restrictions.
• Goods with serial numbers must be declared at the customs department before being granted admission into the country.
• All cats and dogs being imported into the country will require a veterinarian health certificate alongside a rabies vaccination certificate issued by the country of origin before being granted entry.

In addition to a local driver's license, foreigners must hold an International Driver’s Permit (or International Driver's License) to drive in Lesotho.
