Travel to Malawi for Democratic Republic of the Congo citizenship

Malawi transit e-visas can be purchased online . These are one-time permits that allow travelers to stay in the country for no more than 7 days between flights.

Puppies and kittens under 3 months (12 weeks) are too young to have their own rabies vaccination, so they must travel with their mother's rabies vaccination. In order for the vaccination to be considered valid, the mother must have an up-to-date rabies vaccination while pregnant with puppies or kittens. Puppies or kittens must be microchipped before vaccination.

Animals must be microchipped, and the microchip must be implanted either before the rabies vaccination or together with the rabies vaccination.

Pets must have a rabies vaccination not earlier than 30 days, but not earlier than one year.

Annual vaccination of dogs and cats is recommended. It is also recommended to vaccinate against kennel cough and whooping cough. If your pet needs boarding before or after the trip, all reputable kennels will require a valid vaccination certificate.

The health certificate and movement permit are completed by the private veterinarian and then given to the state veterinarian for assurance.

Exercise extra caution in Malawi due to crime.

Crimes such as theft, burglary, armed robbery, assault and carjacking are commonplace. The capacity of the Malawi Police Service is growing, but its resources and capacity to deter and investigate crime, assist victims and apprehend criminals are limited.

Some useful information about driving in Malawi:

• The minimum age for driving a car is 18 years. The minimum age for renting a car is 25 years.
• Malawi has a national seat belt law. We recommend that you always wear a seat belt, if one is available.
• Malawi has a national law that prohibits the use of mobile phones while driving. The use of a speakerphone is allowed.
• Malawi has a national law requiring the use of helmets when riding a motorcycle or scooter. This applies to both the driver and passengers. There is no age limit for child passengers as long as they wear a helmet.
• Legal blood alcohol level: 0.08%. Do not drink and drive.
