If you are traveling to Morocco, you will need the following documents:

- Valid passport (valid for 6 months from the date of arrival)

- Visa (some citizens of the world will need a tourist visa to Morocco)

Visa to Morocco: who needs a visa, types of visas, rules of registration

Depending on your nationality and purpose of travel, you may need a tourist visa to enter Morocco. However, there are some countries whose citizens are exempt from visa requirements and are eligible to apply for an e-Visa.

For citizens of countries that have a visa-free regime with Morocco, the total period of stay in the country can be 90 days.


The exceptions are citizens of Hong Kong, Singapore, Maldives and the Dominican Republic. Citizens of Hong Kong, Singapore, and the Maldives can stay in Morocco for up to 30 days only. Citizens of the Dominican Republic - up to 60 days.


A tourist visa to Morocco can be obtained in three forms, depending on your nationality:

- e-visa;

- regular visa, sticker in the passport document

- electronic authorization


Electronic visa to Morocco: rules of registration

The e-visa allows citizens of Israel and Thailand to obtain a visa online, quickly, without the need to visit the Moroccan embassy or consulate. Such a visa is valid for one entry into the country within 180 days from the date of issue and allows you to stay in Morocco for a maximum of 30 days.


Citizens of the countries listed below can apply for a Moroccan e-Visa:

- Citizens who hold a residence/stay permit in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Japan, Norway, New Zealand or Norway valid for 180 days from the date of visa application.

- Citizens with a valid sticker visa to the United States, the United Kingdom, the Schengen area, Australia, Canada, Ireland and New Zealand, which is valid for at least 90 days from the date of submission of the e-visa application.


Rules for applying:

1. Fill out the application form on the official website of the Moroccan e-visa system. Click on the “Apply for e-Visa” button and answer all the questions accurately and completely.

2. Upload the required documents. You will need to upload scanned copies of the required documents as listed below.

- Passport. Your passport must be valid for more than the duration of your stay in Morocco.

- Two recent photographs. Your face must be clearly visible in the photo.

- Ticket for the return flight.

- You must demonstrate that you have the financial means to support yourself during your stay in the country 

- Hotel reservation or invitation from your host in Morocco.

3. Pay the e-visa fee. You need to pay a consular fee of 220 DH for a one-time visit to the country and 330 DH for a two-time entry;

4. Submit your application and wait for approval. Your visa application will be processed within 24-72 hours, depending on which visa you apply for (standard or express).


Tourist visa issued by an embassy/consulate

Not everyone is eligible to apply for an e-Visa. Therefore, citizens of many countries need to apply directly to the Moroccan embassy or consulate in their country of residence to apply for a tourist visa.


For how long can I get a tourist visa to Morocco?

- Single-entry tourist visas are valid for 6 months and allow you to stay in the country for up to 90 days.

- Double-entry tourist visas are also valid for 6 months and allow you to stay in the country for up to 90 days per visit.


Brief instructions for applying for a tourist visa to Morocco:

1. Contact the Moroccan embassy or consulate to make an appointment.

2. Fill out a visa application form for Morocco. It can be provided at the Moroccan embassy or consulate.

3. Gather the necessary documents (list below)

4. Pay the visa fee before submitting the application (using a bank card) or afterwards, at the embassy itself. The cost of the fee differs depending on your country of origin.

5. Submit the documents and application to the Moroccan embassy/consulate.

Consult with them about the application process, as some offices require you to submit the documents in person, while others also allow you to submit them by mail.

6. Wait for the application to be processed (the processing time is at least 10 business days).

7. Pick up your passport (or have it mailed to you) with the visa stamped on it if your application is approved.


Documents required to apply for a tourist visa to Morocco

- Visa application form (two copies)

- Two color photographs on a white background (4 x 3 cm), where facial features are clearly visible

- A passport valid for at least six months from the date of entry into Morocco

- A document confirming the availability of accommodation in Morocco (hotel reservation, rental accommodation, etc.)

- Receipt of payment of the visa fee

- If you are applying by mail, please also include a self-addressed, pre-paid envelope so that the Moroccan embassy/consulate can return your passport and documents

- Health insurance policy

- Booked round-trip tickets


Please note that the Moroccan authorities responsible for visa issuance in your country of residence have the right to require you to submit additional documents in addition to the above.


Electronic authorization for travel to Morocco (AEVM)

Some countries do not require a visa, but must have an electronic authorization (AEVM). These countries include Congo, Guinea and Mali. 


You must register on the official website of Morocco.

1. Fill out the application form for a travel permit to Morocco by attaching one of the following documents

- a photo ID,

- identity card or residence permit,

- the first page of your passport.
