Omani citizens and citizens of GCC member states receive free medical treatment in public hospitals in Oman. Employers must pay social security contributions for employees.
—
Foreigners are allowed to go to public hospitals only in emergency cases, or if diagnosis or treatment of their illness is not possible in private medical facilities.
—
Private hospitals maintain high standards, although costs are generally higher than public hospitals. Foreigners should make sure they have travel insurance or international health insurance. The medical insurance policy must cover any expenses that may arise in connection with repatriation for medical reasons, urgent medical intervention, treatment in a medical facility or death while in Oman.
Minimum coverage should be 35 000 dollars.
—
Issuance of visas for the purpose of treatment is not provided. If you are a citizen of a country with which Oman has a visa-free regime, you do not need a visa to enter. If you are a citizen of a country for which a visa is required, you should apply for a regular visa.
According to the Nationality Law, a child born to a mother or father with Omani citizenship acquires Omani citizenship regardless of the place of birth.
—
Also, any child born to an unknown mother or father and found in Oman is eligible for citizenship.
